I have pics, but their not in my mustang yet. Their in my old jeep which is now my Bro's but those things are going in next time I get a full day off work I'm going to need to build another box, the one their in is a little big for my trunk, I need to figure out how to shape it differenty but retain the same volume and cu. ft.. SOOO, it may take some time, but here's what I have.

12" Dual Voice Coil.....1000W RMS 2000W Peak

Plus Digi Capacitors

You can say It's a little overkill, but I love it. I may only be putting one in my Mustang because these things are soooo dam loud.

Thats cool, I was thinking of doing one sub too, but Im not sure where to put it because I want to still be able to lay the seats down and slide a surf board through into the trunk. About how much would that sub and an amp to power it run me? Id like to make my own box but have no idea where to start or how to calculate the space etc...

Well you don't need to go as "extreme" as I did. I was in some audio competitions with IASCA, but not anymore. There are many good subs for ALOT cheaper than what I have but here are the cheapest I can find for ya .....

12" Sub

This is a 600 watt amp at 2 ohm which will match with that sub. You can get a bigger amp, but you really don't want to "push" your sub to the max even though its rated for 1000 watts rms it will be plenty loud and you will greatly reduce the risk of blowing your sub.

AMP

All this stuff, is pretty much the best on the market IMHO, there are many other companies and many other ways to go but Rockford was a big sponser and sold me quick on their products.

BTW....you can buy a premade box for under 50 bucks. It may not be as pretty as a custom box but it gets the job done with alot less headache in building one.

Thanks alot, man thats quite a price on that sub.. but Im sure theres a reason for it lol. And yeah.. I could always buy a box.. but whats the fun in that? Plus I didnt really want a standardized perfectly square box.. I really wanted to integrate it into the trunk and maybe do some kind of custom covering to make it look nice ya know? Not just the standard carpeted box.. I had that in my Nissan and it just looked so plain. I had friends that had custom boxes with all kinds of nifty lights and stuff like that and my box was just so... boring lol, trying to make up for that now! [8D]

Does anyone have this on their stang?

It is from Kicker.

Dont have it on the stang, but have a friend who has 2 in his truck and they hit HARD (12"L7). They are really good quality and sound really clean. They seem to be more for show and glory (having a system that hits harder than anyone else around) than functional everyday use.

Hey bl1nkage, if you're looking to save space, my MTX setup is pretty clean.

i dont have a kicker, but i have better[8D]:

is that a w6 or w7 and wut kind of box is that, also is it ported?
a)12w7
b)sealed 1.65cf with polyfill so effectively ~1.9cf volume

a few notes:
a) an l7 is a great subwoofer for getting loud for cheap. however, do NOT BUY INTO THE SQUARE CONE THEORY. because it has a square cone, it is far more restrained at maximum output than a traditional round cone. when that thing is flying in and out at full excursion, the corners are more succeptible to wear unevenely because of the shape, and thus, they cannot design it to travel as far peak to peak. basically, this means that the IMPORTANT number, the "Vas" (volume of air displaced by maximum excursion) is no greater than most high output subwoofers, and is acutally less than a w7, brahma, xxx, and a few others because of their higher "Xmax" (maximum linear travel in each direction). they are great subs that get loud and sound bearable for cheap, but DONT BUY INTO THE MARKETING. take it with a grain of salt from a certified MECP installer...
b)RF makes great stuff too. however, the hit you take on SQ for the average daily driver is not worth the pricetag IMHO. for 600$ on ebay, you might as well get a superior sql sub like the few i listed or something from elemental designs. those RF subs in the link will be capable of gettin at least as loud though, because they are designed to take more than their rated power and handle excursion far beyond their "xmax" linear rating, but will sound flabby at such high rates of movement.
c)I am personally a fan of JL Audio, Zapco, Arc Audio, Alpine (though im running a pioneer premier deck because of its lower price and flexibility), MB Quart, Focal, Audiocontrol (equalization), and Knukonceptz (wiring). Rainbow, Dynaudio, Nakamichi, DEI (in its many forms), and Clarion also have top notch niche products, and Hifonics makes some of the best "cheap" amplifiers i've ever come across.

Did you build your box drbob?

And how do you find out how much space you need when you make a custom box??
