Default Throttle lag?

Hi all,
Just registered for the forum. I've been a lurker for a couple of months while waiting on delivery of my new 07 GT. Lots of good info. Thanks.

UUUhhh...holy $#!t...what a car. My goofy @$$ grin has to be surgically removed. I'm sure you all can relate.

So anyway my only small gripe is the throttle lag, especially annoying on the manual. While I don't plan to modify much I would like to get rid of the throttle delay if possible and pick up a bit of performance in the effort. I gather a tune is the way to go but the Granatelli induction looks promising without a tune. I guess my question is, does a non-tuned induction mod offer better throttle response or is a custom tune required?

Any feedback is appreciated. Meanwhile I'm going to the garage to see if I really did this.

Where's your RPMs when you get this lag? It could be you're punching it in the low torque range and it's easing it up so it doesn't knock. It might also be the TCS kicking in which you can just turn off. I found the throttle by wire a bit odd until I got used to the how and why it does what it does.

Thanks austijc. Yea I've thought maybe I'm just not used to the clutch/throttle action. Been on a bike daily for the last 8 years so this is new to me. Just dosen't feel right to me yet. I guess my next question should be, is there a noticable difference with a custom tune?

No, a CAI alone will do nothing for the throttle lag. The throttle lag is caused by the computer and only changing the tune will eliminate it. Just get an SCT and C&L or JCT and be done with the throttle lag + a little extra hp.

Newbie for you. Just found the thread on that cheater "turn the ignition on, wait for the dash lights to turn off, press the accel to the floor, release, presto, chango, no more lag". Well...at least less lag. Mine seems to have alot.

For the noobs. Good info.

I didnt say there were no ways to reduce it. I said the only way to eliminate it was a tune. If you dont want my advice dont listen to it, doesnt matter to me.

Jesus.. try to help some people and they just want to be smart *** punks.

P.S. Next time try not bashing someone trying to help you and people might be more inclined to reply... just a thought.

O, and since you have "been a lurker for a couple months" then you should have known the answer to this anyways because we have had MULTIPLE threads about it just in the past week alone. Thats JMO, take it with a grain of salt, lime and a glass of tequila.

I'm going to take a guess and say that there are some parameters in the computer that control ramp rate of the throttle. Anyway, when I go in for my "0" sparkplugs I am going to ask Jeremy at HPP to increase the ramp rate as much as he can to reduce throttle lag.

A dyno tune may be able to even correct this better than a canned tune.

Thx,

Mike

Oh man, bad day Bl1nk ??? Just take a drive in your stang you'll feel much better .

I did the gas pedal method and it worked for my car like 1000%. Even after my tune it still made it better. Do It anyways It cant hurt anything and you WILL notice a difference.
