I had this problem at 8k miles and had it "fixed". Now I'm hearing it again at 21k miles. I don't know much about differentials but I'm starting to get worried that our differentials are weak.

i know exactly how ya feel brotha! they replaced my positrac clutches no questions asked, but they cannot reproduce the fuel pump problem within 10 minutes of driving and so they say they cannot replace it, they said to bring it in one day when it starts doing it, i ttold them it only happens ONCE whenever the hell it wants to, i can go through the same scenario 20 times and it might happen once.

oh yea, read that thread, i am playing hell with the dealer about a little bit of paint.

Well, just got off the phone with the local ford service dept. Good news! Your mustang is done and we didn't fix it!

Ok, so I dropped it off this weekend to get 2 TSB's done...no, I'm not one of those guys who brings the car in for every TSB and demand repairs. My car actually has the symptoms described (hesitation after cruise and axle groan during turns.) So the advisor tells me they have done tons of the axle TSBs and have the parts in stock, but he's never seen the hesitation one, and will have to order parts. That makes me happy because over the 6000 miles on the car, I have seen the hesitation problem 5 times tops, but the axle groan has been present with every low speed turn for the last 4000 miles.

Yesterday I get the good news message on my cell phone after they had already closed for the day. "We replaced the fuel pump modules and fuel pumps to take care of your hesitation problem, but were unable to duplicate the axle groan." WTF? So they repaired the problem which was more obscure and waaaaay less frequent, and left the constant and more annoying one. I seriously doubt they drove it enough to duplicate the hesitation problem since it's only happened to me 5 times in 9 months. So, I talk to the guy on the phone this morning, and explain to him how I will just have to bring it right back in the second the axle makes noise again, but he's not budging.

So the battle begins. I can't wait to pick it up tonight, get her all warmed up, make a tight turn and listen to the sweet song of toasted LSD clutch packs...Then drive right back to the service lane.
ask to take a technician on a ride-along to have them document the problem. I've had to do that EVERY TIME for the 4 throw-out bearings I've had to have replaced under my warranty after they did a clutch replacement (00 V6). The last two times I drove up and told them 'time for another ride-along' they tried arguing the 2nd time I said that but I told them, have you been able to find it on your own ANY of the previous times. They shut up after that.
