when i was 16...i drove a 75 pinto yellowish/green...had a work glove as a gas cap,and my radiator leaked bad.

nobody could ride with me cause i had so many milk jugs full of water...what made it worse was the floor board had more holes than swiss cheese....i learned the hard way taking it on a rock road!....[8D]

I'm glad you own a nice car like a Mustang, I'm glad your family can get you nice things (No sarcasm there, I mean it.) Enjoy your car! THat's what it's there for, but PLEASE be carefull. Don't take this the wrong way, but I would never consider getting a 16 year old a mustang. I would have killed myself at 16 in a sports car of any kind. Not because I was reckless, far from it, but because I hadn't been driving long enough to understand how to get out of trouble. There are plenty of safe, responsible, 16 year old drivers that just haven't been driving for long enough to know what to do when they get in trouble on the road. Add a high-powered sports car to the mix and you have a receipe for disaster.

i got my gt around my 18th bday, and daddy paid for most of it.

HOWEVER, and this is a BIG however, 16 year olds shoul NOT be driving a brand new 05/06/07 gt period end of story. no matter how much driving experience you have or how good you or your intuition is, you WILL fu(k up the car, you WILL race people in it, you WILL endanger yourself and others, and you DONT know your or your car's limitations. I know I didn't, and I still don't think im beyond that point now that im 20 and have 75,000miles of driving under my belt, much of it aggressive.

I'm finally discovering the reality of how dangerous a car can be, esp with 300+hp, and why old guys with vipers drive 5under the speed limit. I understand why I got shlt for having my gt, and what it means to really value a car. These are things that a 16yr old, NO MATTER WHAT, cannot fully grasp due to their experience. I have been in one fender-bender that never got reported, and have been pulled over 10 times with one ticket that i fought and won. I consider myself one hell of a driver, and i know my stang very very well. with all this said, there is no way in hell that i should have even be given/driving my stang when i was even 18.

Heck, even though I have one, I still think young kids shouldn' t get sports cars either, I treat my car with the best care in the world and always will as long as I have it, I also think theres no point in showing off and driving fast everywhere, because I want to have my car as long as possible, I'm just a lucky 16 year old and take constructive critisicm (from the older than me) seriously.

What about 17 year olds?

It doesn't really matter what people have there will still be people who will try and race you. I'v had people in Gremlins try and race me. 300 horsepower really isn't that much. I mean it's a lot, but not a bunch. I'm not trying to be cocky but I know there are A LOT worse drivers than me driving faster cars around. It is too bad statistics are messing up my insurance really bad. You'v been pulled over 10 times??? I'v been driving for two years and have never gotten pulled over, thus my parents let me buy myself a new 07 GT because they beleive i'm responsible enough to not do anything stupid. I'm glad you can admit that you'v got 75k under your belt and maybe still don't know all your limitations. I have a little over 50K and i'm just turning 17 and I know I don't know all my limitations but i don't plan to be driving my car like a madman. I'm even going to an advanced driving school with my car after i get it to help me learn. It's too bad you were (are?) an agressive driver that tries to test your cars limitations, but you'll have to admit that not everyone who is 16-18 drives like that.

Oh and about the old men and viper under 5mph the limit? I know many men over 50 that have fast cars and drive them like they are supposed to be driven.
