0 Miles to empty
When the car tells me there are 0 miles to empty how many gal do I have left? I am running all of the 87 out for my upcomming retune. I figure this is in the manual but I dont have it with me and I am trying to decide if I should get gas on the way home.
I know on a dodge ram you can go for ALONG ways once it says 0. I was travling to WA state from Texas and forgot to get gas then when I remembered I was in the middle of nowhere and ended up going about 30 miles with it reading 0 left.

Most all vehicles have about 1.5-3 gallons left in the tank when the meter says empty, now exactly how much of that you will be able to use is hard to say.. you will still have alot of gas in the tank, but you may only be able to use 1 gallon or so of that depending on exactly how much the pump is able to suck up (which depends on the position of the hose in the tank). Only real way to test it would be to run the tank down to when it says 0 miles left, then remember your odo reading and then just run it til it stops... Just make sure you have a spare 5 gallon tank of gas in the trunk [8D]
Yeah I didnt think so either I just want to make sure this goes smooth. I dont need any pinging and I will be getting gas a albertsons...so occording to people on here I might not be getting the best gas anyway.
I think I remember there being some standard when it comes to this...I want to say when you hit E its 30 more miles...give or take depending on your driving style.
This has served me well over the years, never run out.

I’ve never forgot to gas up. One time I purposefully drove my Peugeot 405 (I am from the Netherlands originally, bear with me) about 60km (37 miles) with the empty light on. And when I gassed up I had only 2 litres (0.528 gallons) left in the tank.
Funny thing… In Europe we don’t drive all that far, yet the 1.8 litre 405 has a fuel tank that has a capacity of 18.5 gallons. Range? 518 miles on one tank @ 75mph. That makes the 16gallons - 400 miles of the mustang look kinda weak now does it. The mustang should have had a long-range tank option, 26 gallons or so. That would have been awesome… 650 miles until empty on the highway…

400 miles is plenty, you should stop and stretch your legs anyway.
