Default Map Lamps stay on - help please

Dear All,

I just got a 2006 GT and the map lamps do not go off. I have tried pressing the buttons, holding them, and they saty on. I am afraid they will drain the battery - I cannot get to the dealer until Tuesday because of the holiday.

Has anyone had this problem or have any suggestions - is there a way to just remove the bulbs?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

There's a little wheel next to your headlight switch that adjusts the gauge lighting level. If it is turned all the way past the clicking point, the interior lights will stay on. You just need to adjust the wheel back the opposite direction.

I went through the same thing with my mustang. I had cleaned the interior, next thing I knew, the map lights would not go off no matter what I tried. I disconnected the battery[-] terminal to keep the battery from going dead. I searched through the owners manual and found the answer to my delima; I had inadvertantly turned the interior light wheel adjustment all the way on. Problem solved when I backed the wheel down.

your car is defective, it will blow up in 2 days if you don't give it to me so i can fix it. The fixing will only take about 3 years and 36k miles.

And they actually are operating a 3500 pound vehicle traveling at 65 mph.....scary!
