Hey Gang,

The subject line says it all... First mod is going to be window tint.. Is that even considered a mod?? =) ha ha Anyway, I have no idea as to what percentages of tint looks like.

Could we get some pics up of your tints and tell me what the % are? As of right now, I don't know what 5% is compared to 20%. Yeah, don't laugh.. Durrrrr....

I still want to keep it legal and I don't want to have to roll the windows down at night time...

20 % tint all around. Front side windows in NY are not allowed any tint, Rear back and side windows are allowed any % you want.

Different manufacture's tints vary in darkness, 20 % from on brand will differ from another. Most tint shops will have samples setup on a window for you to view. I don't know my brand but I think 20% is the way to go.

Also, not a problem at night.

Get the moleskin kit to prevent scratching your tint and/or windows. If you search the forum you can find the site and other info.

I initially installed 20% tint all around ... it was very dark due to the factory tint already in the glass. I had a tint shop check it for me and the combination of 20% tint + the Factory tint had a net result of 9% ...

I removed the 20% from just the door windows and replaced with 35% ... looks perfect now and is still quite dark .... definitely below the GA Law of 32% ...

Actually in NY its 70% for the front windows..which is close to factory glass...

Definitly go 20% all around in the rear....i will go 30-35% in front windows...usually you wont have any Law issues with that..

Also i got a quote of 180 Bucks for the job..i thought that was high...any thoughts on what is a good price..?

I have 35% all around. If a cop wants to be a scumbucket...he could give me a ticket for the front windows.

On my old car (V6 Altima), I had this one ******* pull me over for no reason and he decided to give me a ticket FOR EACH window (4 tickets). I had 20% tints all around.

I paid $140 for mine, and that was their top-of-the-line, dual layer tint. Has a 10 year warranty.
