Quick Questions - Louvers (pic included)
Guys, I found a set of quarter louvers on ebay I liked for $185 painted. In the description, it says they are made from high impact ABS plastic. However, the 3D carbon louvers, for example, are also on ebay and made from polyurethane. They also cost a little more. I really like the look of the ones for $85. But my question is, are the plastic ones going to be cheaper and not last as long as the polyurethane? Is there a big difference in the 2? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Vents are open so visibility is actually still quite good ... The louver actually mounts to the glass .. not the body. The tape does not go completely across the bottom so any water that does get in there simply runs out the bottom ...

I don't have much experience with window louvers, but I have worked with injection molding quite a bit. We made some parts out of engineering grade ABS and I can tell you it was harder than superman's knee cap. It was really durable too. The only plastic we worked with that was stronger was polycarbonate (lexan). I don't have any experience with polyurethane though, so I can't advise as to the relative strength of the two. I bet you could hit that high-impact ABS with a bat and it would be fine though. When a resin says "high-impact" that means the polymer molecules are packed in at a much, much higher rate than for medium-impact (MIP) or low impact resins. This gives you a great deal more strength. I'm not saying go with the ABS, just that it is tough as hell. I would bet that you could put a better coat of paint (shine) on polyurethane though as it is much smoother (gloss) coming out of a mold.
Hope that helps a tad...

Why would a person put a "Mach 1" decal on a 6 cyl ? and add GT fogs,.... might as well put the GT badge on the trunk while ur at it.
With a few more "glue on mods" you could have afforded a GT.
