Hey Guys,

I have notice that my car and a few others I sat in, the shifter is loose..i can spin it back and forth and also it seems to move a bit when I change gears. I sat in an 07' today and it was tight.. Anyone else have this issue? how did you fix it?

-Regards

I forgot to add a bit clunky, the 07' was real crisp, mine you can spin the shifter in nearly 360 degree circles. Anyone experince this?, Im sure it can be tightened is it the shift linkage? Thanks guys!

Yes, Mine did this when I broke my stock shifter, there are plastic bushing's in the stock shifter and when they let go that's all that holds the very top of the shifter handel in place. I know it sounds stupid but make sure your shift *** is tight. I upgraded to a Steeda Tri-ax and solved my problems.

IF it's just the handle that's loose, pull the leather boot down a little and spin the **** to the right around one more turn or more if needed

My 06 GT was like this as well. Several on the lot were also like that. I thought it was some kind of funky shift **** at first and the service advisor said it's normal. I was like, you have to be kidding me. So I went home, grabbed the shift boot with my left hand and started turning the shift **** clockwise. I was able to turn it down about 12-13 turns before it was tight. It was that loose from the factory. Now it's perfect.

pull off the shifter boot and the dust shield. make sure the bolts holding the shifter arm to the piece coming out of the tranny are tight. this happened to me, not on the stocker but a few weeks after I got my Hurst installed.
