Default 2006 GT Fuel Filter Replacement

How do I change the fuel filter on my 2006 mustang GT? I did a search and couldn't find out.

Thanks, jk

Very annoying process. You gotta jack the car up on the driver side and there is a skid plate around the door area under the car. Take it off and there's the filter.

Additionally, I expect that these Fords still have the push on connections that require a special tool The tool is basically a sleeve that fits over the line and slides into the line to release a spring that goes around the filter stub. When you purchase the tool, don't get the plastic ones. Get the scissors looking type that is made of metal.

Good luck.

No push on tool necessary. Just a couple of metric wrenches.

Get the scissor tool. It will make life easier. The green retaining clips are not removable like many instructions claim. The tool is used to spread the green retainer so that the lip of the fuel filter can slip right out. I had to find that out the hard way. I broke one of the clips trying to remove them. The tool cost $6 from northern tool. You may find the tool at your local auto parts store. The tool has two sides, one for 5/16 fuel lines and the other side is for 3/8 fuel lines. Use the 3/8 side. Good luck

No tool necessary. All you need to do is take a flathead screwdriver, put it on top of the green part of the connector and push down.

Everything should just pull apart when you push down on that little green piece. I just did mine a month ago.

I did mine myself awhile back. It's simple..and I have no mechanical skills, lol.

Take out your fuel filter fuse (google to find out which),
then try to start your car a few times. It'll drain some of the fuel out of the line.
Jack up the drivers side and use a wrench to get the plastic case down out of your way.
Get a cup or something to drain the little fuel you'll get into.

I used my fingers to push the green clips and release the filter. No biggy.
Then make sure the filter is facing the right way, slip the hoses on,
bam good to go.

Exactly.
THESE ARE NOT THE SAME OLDER-STYLE CLIPS FORD USED TO USE!!!
Do NOT try to pull them out, like I did, and break one apart.

Push in on the green tab and pull apart.
