RE: A/C on or off
Personally i've always shut the A/C before shutting the car down, I try to keep it off and have the windows down but it's just way too hott in Florida right now and it's only torture to roll the windows down. [&o]

RE: A/C on or off
For the last 35 years or so, I have allways turned off the A/C before shutting down the engine along with everything else that could use current when I start up. It seems much easier on the car to me, but Im an old man. I like easy!

RE: A/C on or off
Reasons to Turn your AC off before shutting off your car:
1) It lets the colder wetter air get pushed out of your vents so you dont get mold build up and that awful stink that goes with it
2) When you go to restart your car, the AC doesn't kick on as soon as it starts thus putting additional load on an engine where the oil is not fully circulated.
3) Allows the AC system and compressor to depressurize so you don't leave the system on it's own to equilibrate (cuts down on the wear and tear of your AC system.
