I am working on a way around this, i am thinking it has something to do with the latches and making a ground. The reason i think this is because if you have the latches in the closed position and press the top down botten the windows do not go down. However if you release the latches and press the top down all four windows go down, so there is defintly a circuit in there. I am guessing by putting some kind of metal over the latch plates will trick the alarm into thinking the top is up, i just need to experiment a little.

ORIGINAL: 06 tgstn vert

I got the motion alarm in my 06' GT vert. For some reason it doesnt work w/ the top down but if you leave the windows down w/ top up and reach inside minimum 60 seconds after you arm the alram the damn thing will go off every time. Great feature just wished it would work when the top was down as well.

Default RE: Alarm System

This bothered me as well - I took some time yesterday and found the top up/down swtich. It's located on the passenger side and is a micro-switch mounted to the top frame near the motor. The switch is a weird one - actually has 2 switches and the top mechanism has a cam type mechanism. For the alarm to work the switch needs to be removed from the top mechanism - it's held on with a plastic rivet into the top. Then remember how the switch was oriented - the plastic rivet is towards the front - then hold down the front of the switch with the method of your choice. I used a zip tie and then put electrical tape around it as well. The motion sensors are not sensitive enough to pick up falling leaves but will certainly pick up someone reaching in just as when the top was up. I was only able to take pictures of the switch with my phone so the quality isn't great but you can at least see what the switch looks like.
