Default Weld or bolt-on FlowMasters

Anyone here have any experience with installing flowmaster axle-backs on a 2005/2006 Mustang GT? I've seen pro/cons of welding these on to the over-axle pipe vs. just bolting on as designed. Any horror stories/ success stories?
Thanks,
Doc

I would not weld them on because if you ever have to remove them your screwed.

+1 not to mention that the Flows are made of mild steel and will wear out and get rusted out at some point. Now if you went with one of the stainless axle backs, although i still would not weld it would be as big and a issue.

Thanks for the quick feedback... if I opt to bolt-on, do you recommend also using some kind of over-axle pipe gasket/sealant material inbetween pipe and muffler slip on flange? or is this not necessary (worried about leaks/leak noise)

Just bolted mine on. No, you don't need any sealant between the pipes. Just make sure you use the supplied pipe clamps, and BEAR DOWN on em....I had to go back under about two weeks post install, and re-tighten em. No issues since.

Yes, make sure you use their clamps. You do not need any sealer but many people are getting a rattle including me. I put a slit in the muffler pipe about an 1' long so that the pipe can compress around the mating pipe easier. This eliminated the rattle.

I had to have mine welded on. I was getting a pretty decent leak on both sides no matter how tight or where I placed the clamp. Finally the clamp snapped I tried tightening it so much so I just had them welded.

this may be a stupid question, but how would you check for leaks? I just had l/t, new mid-pipe and new mufflers installed and connected by clamps but have no idea if i have any leaks. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I would bolt'm on for a least a month, to make sure I love the sound. Then if I was sure that I was keepin' em maybe weld'm on. As far as exhaust leaks, I understand that u look for black deposits.
