45 years old. This is no mid life crisis for me. I've been messing around with cars since I was 17 and the novelty just never wore off. I love the modern technology so much better. I could care less if I ever saw another carberator or breaker point igition in my life. Don't get me wrong. I still work with old cars. Cars my friends own include a '69 Mach One, A roller cammed big block 1970 Monte Carlo, a 440 powered 1971 Dodge Demon to name a few, but none of them can equal my 05 Mustang in drivability, handling, braking, ride quality and just plain fun value. Even the big block Monte Carlo is only 2 tenths quicker ET than my Stang and it uses TWICE the gas. Just my two cents worth.

Isn't the older car easier to work with and has more power? Just wondering. Isn't the old technology have more power than the new technology or is it the other way around? I personally wish I had a carb.

59 last July. '05 Screaming Yellow GT driver. Motorcyclist, Yamaha FJR1300ABS.

Used to run a '64 Impala Sports Coupe, 4 on the floor, 327, Offy Manifold, tri-power. Fun ride. Also had a '66 396 Impala SS and a 66 Ford Fairlane GT 390 at different parts of my life. Both too long ago. Wanted a V8 again for a long time. But, as we know with the SMOG laws and such, good ones were an issue.

Assuaged my feelings with a tweaked out BMW for many years till the '05 GT showed up.

Well, at 57 I'm not the oldest one listed here. I have an '06 manual transmission GT and love it.

This is my fourth Mustang. My first was a '66 3 speed manual, 200 inline six coupe. I had headers, and dual exhaust with several mods and MANY times I had to open the hood to prove it was a six and not an eight.

I then had a '66 2+2, 289, 3 speed manual. It was quick and fun.

Then in '85 I bought a 5 speed manual, 5.0 GT brand new. It was only 3050 pounds with gobs of mid range torque, so it was actually more fun to drive than my current Mustang........

........ which is an '06, manual transmission GT.

SOoooo, now I've had '66, '85 and '06, so I'm curious what my 2026 model Mustang will look like.

I drive my Mustang because it is fun to drive. I'm not trying to "attract chicks" or put on an image. I don't need an image because I don't need Viagra and my wife of 32 years doesn't need any help either. 57 years old with a manual transmission GT and an active and healthy sex life. Life just doesn't get any better than that.

Know what you mean. I have been married to the same girl for 33 years, we don't need an image thank you very much. So driving my black '06 Stang is just a joy and the others look at it and smile. My wife gets a kick out of seeing how much I am enjoying mine. She named my Stang for me - Shaft (can you dig it?).

47 here--baby of the group. 05 GT, first new car ever owned. Always had older cars with plenty of get-up and go!! First car in high school was a Dodge Demon(340, 4 speed at age 165, WOW). Sold my '69 Vette 350/350 at age 40 (couldn't fit the wife and child seat[&:]. Was going to buy an used 03 GT (got permission from the wife because the whole family fit), then saw the NEW Mustang. Aways liked the mustang but never owned one. Figured why not, I keep it forever. It's the best car I ever owned!!! I LOVE IT. It handles great, all the nice options and is faster than sh*t!!! My 8 year old thinks he's going to get it when he's able to drive[sm=forgetit.gif]

Any way, drive it every day and makes me feel great!! My wife thinks it's my mid-life crissis, but it's just a continuation of the love I have for being able to drive fast, go thru the gears and spin them when ever I want. It's what I wanted to do when I was 16 and it's what I do NOW at 47

It's a greatr feeling!!![sm=gears.gif]

53 YO

Just had to chime in. When I was in high school my dream car was a '69 red vert. with a black interior.

I was driving around in a modified Honda Element and kept seeing the new Mustangs on the dealer lots. Never owned a Mustang in my life. Closest I ever got was a red '68 Ford Galaxie 500 XL w/black interior.

While trying to decide on a new BMW or Infinity I stopped at the local Ford dealer and drove a silver GT vert. Found out that my golf clubs would fit in the trunk. Didn't want red or yellow because I didn't want to attract attention, but I had to have the 5 speed. The dealer wouldn't bargain. Long story made short I'm now driving an '06 GT vert, red on black w/18" fanblades.

When I wake up in the morning I try to figure out places to go just so that I can drive this thing. The pure attraction of the car baffled me unitil I saw the similarity to the '69 Mach I. Now I realize that after 38 years I finally have my dream car.

Did you know that over 70% of the people have a name for their car? And that over 50% say that they love their car like one of the family?

My car's name is Apache!

I'm a youthful 40 with an 06 gt. I obviously have no issues. But I can tell that people at work think I am in a midlife crisis. One lady even asked me "let me guess, you bought a red one?". I wanted to vomit on her face. "No, I bought a blue one, you bitch." I never understood that way of thinking. I think they are just jealous because they have to drive family sedans and they don't have the freedom to drive what they want like I do.

Of course, our 60 year old company president drives a red bmw Z4 M Roadster convertible to work. None of my coworkers dare tell him he's in a midlife crisis. He's rich, he can afford it, it makes him happy. Is this a crime for anyone no matter what they drive at any age?
