Default Custom Sub Box

Did anyone build a custom sub box in their trunk? I'm kind of bored, and even though I don't have subs, I want to build the box this weekend and I wanted to see if anyone had already built one.

I was thinking of slightly angleing two 12' subs inward and putting maybe a peice of plexiglass to create a slight triangle shape. Maybe some pulsing LEDs in there for a little effect.

I haven't had a chance to measure the dimensions of our small trunk yet.

For $140, you can build your own and make it look much nicer. I want the protection of the cones with the plexiglass. Otherwise , you could puncture the cone if you put anything in there.

yeah you can build you own for cheaper, but when you talk about the time you spend going out looking for the materials, the time you spend building it ect.. it would cost more. Plus I am not into flashy, i want something that is functional, i like how it has space on the sides of the speakers, I can mount my amps there. I would be getting the 10 inch version since i already have 10 inch subs.

Why would you want sub boxes that block rear seat access to the trunk? I want something so that I can still lay down the seats and get into the trunk.. what happens when I go to the beach with that? Where do I put my surf board? Right now I lay the seats down and lay the board through the back seats into the trunk... that would kill your trunk space. Not to mention you would NEVER get to your spare tire... may as well call roadside assistance and look like a yuppy. JMO.... Id rather have side mounted subs like Drbob.

Someone here made a custom sub box about a month ago, cant remember who it was though, but he made a separate part for his amp and equilizer too, it was pretty sweet. Was a huge post with lots of pics, try searching for it.

I have the vert, no backseat access. Besides either way i would have some sort of box back there, whether it be that custom one or just a plan one you can buy from best buy etc..

And for optional bass, you have to give up the trunk space, just part of having the great stereo system, yeah you can get smaller, but you will not get the same bass response.

need to ask, have you ever had a real 2x12 box and if so how does this compare? I like the look, but i just have a feeling it wouldnt have enough bottem end for me and would be lacking.
