Aluminum driveshaft?
Why is it that Ford can sell the driveshaft for the FRC500 for $289
http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=2980
but any aluminunm drive shaft for the 05-07 mustangs cost $600+. What am I missing and why doesn't ford sell one for the mustang gt at a similar price?

Because the FRC500 is essentially a production part where-as the Mustang GT version required seperate R&D and $ to develop. You get stuck paying for the R&D of the OEM perforamnce fab.
That's about right. There's a lot of markup/cost recovery going on in the aftermarket industry.
You can get a Ford Ranger driveshaft, which is aluminum, for about $275. It can be modified to fit in the 'stang, for about $100. That's probably the cheapest option out there, but it also requires some legwork on your part.
Ford may sell one eventually, who knows. That's the way it has been with the rear-end girdles, the CMCP delete kit, and so on....

That's what I figured. Another thing that really bothers me is why would ford use a two piece drive shaft when they could use a one piece? Surely a single piece drive shaft is easier and cheaper to produce? maybe they had the two piece ones laying around.
