Orion, where did you get the black one? My car is black and I think that would look great. Thanks.

You may want to chrome out your mirrors and the hood scoop. That'll go well with the wheels as well.

I also have a black '06 GT and got the shorty black antenna at UPR products. I was amazed at how such an inexpensive mod can make a subtle but pleasing improvement. It does add to the stealthiness of the car. Reception seems ok.

I have the TuneTrapper under dash antenna (figured I try that since it was only $29). But it's only providing about 85% reception quality and distance most of the time. I think I'm going with a power antenna soon. Did one on my 65 vette and on my 61 fairlane. Turn radio on, antenna goes up; radio off antenna goes down. ...and the base looks like an exact retro copy of we had back in the day. A small 3/4"-1" stainless flat base that the mast sits down flush in. Now this won't work as a replacement for the OE unit because Ford decided on the big black plastic base which has three or four (can't remember now) small holes and then the main hole for the antenna lead. The aftermaket power unit I speak of isn't gonna cover this all up. I have mine all welded in as the flames kinda go right through or around this area. If I can't locate it close to the original location (cause flames may be in the way) I may be forced to do a rear mounted setup. At least in the original location, with std shorter lead, my experience with 2 applications of these antennas is that all around reception was better than the OE fixed unit (which was fine in both cases).

There are threads out here that speak of radio frequency and mast height and there were quite a few responses indicating less than OE performance with shorter masts for that reason. (not my area of expertise however, will defer to others for that)

I got it on Ebay from someone who was making money off the shipping! It came with 3 adapters.
The top is kinda weird. like the tape was wrapped around it above the wire. I was putting on my car cover and it bent the top 1/2 inch 45 degrees! I'll see if I can cut part of it off and melt it closed.
There is one out there on one of the suppliers we're all familiar with that is even shorter. Can't find who it is

Good shop on Ebay selling these for about $30 shipped. Here is his site: http://stores.ebay.com/Mikes-Speed-and-Chrome
Or you can email him directly @ Mike@nolimitsmotorsports.net

Here are a couple of the ones he has in black (lengths available: 12, 18, or 21's) Not sure which size looks best though.
