I'm using the Borla XR-1 bullets. Expensive, but they work extremely well. I have no drone.

How did the resonator install go? Did it remove the drone sound? Got any pics of the install location you ended up with? Thanks for any feedback.

Default RE: Resonators

It helped the drone, but it was not the night and day difference I was hoping for, the drone is still quite intrusive. It is pefectly tolerable, but for the trouble I was hoping for none at all. Interestingly, when I first pulled away after having them installed, I thought it was gone. Maybe the resonators or mufflers broke in and caused the change, but the drone is definitely still there. I feel like it was back to the way it was before installing the midpipe. After the midpipe it got really bad, but now it sounds like it was with just the axlebacks. Slightly annoying at times, but perfectly tolerable.

I didn't have many choices as to where to install them...Due to the prochamber's "chamber", I don't think I had as much room as some people with regular x's or h's, so the resonator is pretty much right after the prochamber. Any farther towards the rear of the car and I would have run out of room or risked hitting something and getting rattling noises. I wonder if this screwed up the drone reducing potential of the resonator. I put in the 2.5" Vibrant resonator. It is a little shorter than some of the other's I have seen people put on.

On a side note, I am not sure I like the sound of the Borla's as much as the Bassani, which suprised me. I am hoping the resonators didn't have some other undesirable effect on the exhaust sound, especially considering they didn't help as much as I hoped. I think I am going to put the Bassani's back in and see how they sound again.

Also, I took care of the obnoxious rattling I've had since installing the midpipe. Had to do with the TSB for rattling in center console. Two hose clamps and the sound is gone.

I will see if I can get some pics this weekend. Don't have a lift, but I will squeeze a camera under there.

How different will the exhaust sound with resonators? will it be much quiter and will it eliminate drone on frpp axle backs?

Default RE: Resonators

I have Magnaflow resonators on mine, and they are more or less welded in on the over-axle pipe as shown in the diagram above. I'm not sure on their length, but they are fairly long. Probably 14" if not longer.

Exhaust consisted of O/R H-pipe & SLP loudmouths. Resonators helped quiet/deepen the exhaust note significantly. Though since it's still not the sound I want, I'm eventually going to get them cut out and replaced with 2.5 pipe once more. So if anyone is interested, let me know.

Edit: If anyone is interested in the Resonators I just ordered a new over the axle pipe, figure it would be easier and cleaner just to get new piping then cut out the resonators and add new piping, plus the piping fixes the crimped bend from the OE pipes. If anyone is interested, let me know. Thanks.
