In previous posts, I had been asking about what exhaust systems others had been happy with, flaws, etc.

Well...I got tired of my IMCO and took it off on Saturday, right at the cat.

I was blown away by how much nicer/louder it sounded!!!

I'm happy with what I got now and I'm thinking of keeping it this way

Anyone else do this to theirs and like what they hear?
CO hazard... at least run pipes to the back of the car. If you have your ventilation running when you are stopped you'll be sucking carbon monoxide into car. It'll make you sleepy...

I really like that idea. I go to a shop where I live and the guy does good work...I might talk to him about doing this. Thanks! Good idea

I do get some drone. I get some papping too which I like. It's pretty darn loud, I was shocked. I'm keeping it this way until I'm ready to put out the money for dual exhaust X-pipe with Borla Stingers. I've had no problems yet.
Ashley,

You might want to go to a good local muffler shop and have them bend you a set of pipes and have them split them into duals. Just leave the mufflers off. They can put rolled stainless steel tips on the ends to make it look classic as well.

That might be a cheaper alternative than the X-pipe and Borla Stingers, and still sound good. I'm not knowledgeable about the V6 setups, but I don't think you will get horsepower gains with the X-pipe and Stingers. Also, be careful with a true dual setup. I have seen that on older V6 engines and depending upon the firing order they can be very very LOUD, and it ain't a good loud like a race car either! It will grate on your nerves to say the least!

Hope this helps.

Well now you're illegal, and in Cali that's big bucks. What about carbon monoxide into the passenger compartment? Did you think of that?

I drove my Gt for a week without mufflers, and if you keep the windows down you won't die. When i got my loudmouths it had the same sound except it was MUCH quieter in the cab. There is no drone either way as far as i could tell, and it sounds the way a mustang should.

I know it's illegal and I don't really care. Carbon monoxide is not that big of an issue, especially considering I always have the windows down unless it's pouring.

Then you don't care about tickets and fines as well. Please spare us the "Damn, I Got A Ticket. What Should I Do?" thread when it happens.

Nope, I don't mind at all. Considering that I've had my muffler off for awhile and I've run into several cops since then who obviously could care less about that or the fact that I don't have my front licence plate on either. They have more important things to worry about like speed violators, homicidals, shootings, and robberies.

If I do get a ticket, I'll deal and pay it. I know what to do and I can take care of it no problem. Otherwise, I wouldn't have taken my muffler off. Maybe you shouldn't read those threads anyways if you have such a problem with them.

I run a stock exhaust with no mufflers. I had a local shop bend pipes and fit 3.5" magnaflow slash cut tips out the back. looks like a stock stang but got the right sound now. Everyone (with the exception of my wife, who has learned to hate everything I do) loves the way it sounds. It has an absolutley evil sound going down the strip.

That beast sounds wicked man! Do you guys think it would sound the same with LM's? I went to the SLP site to listen to them but they were on an auto and it sounded like a ricer right offa the line then it got to sound nasty between like 2500 rpm and redline, please tell me they sound just as nasty offa the bottom end as they do when it is screamin lol
