It pauses the ipod and then keeps it charging. The Ipod itself quits charging when full so no need to worry if you leave it plugged in. It isn't going to hurt anything.
Thanks for that info. As you said the iPod quits charging when full, but the display remains on (no backlight). Do you know how long the life span is on the iPod display? Just curious 'cause if I constantly leave the iPod on idle with the dsplay on it'll significanlty cut the display's life span. Although, I don't know if there's a difference in life span when the back light is either on or off. This is not something to lose sleep over, it's really no big deal. For now I unpug the cable and turn the iPod off manually before exiting the car. It would be more convenient if the iPod turns off when the HU is turned off.

bomb79, I don't know if the device is compatible with MP3 players. I look it up in the manual and get back to you.

I'm not saying that it won't work but I don't see what you quoted anywhere in the manual the interface came with. It only mentions compatibility with iPod. So if you plan on using this for an MP3player I think you should go down to your local Best Buy to make sure imho

With the MP3 player, and the ability to put 100-130 songs per Cd, and 6 Cds at a time thats 700 songs or better. I've never owned an Ipod but I don't understand the need for one with MP3CD's

that's a funny question... lets do some math... an mp3cd is about 700mb which holds about 100 7mb 320kbps mp3s. My ipod is 30gigs or roughly 30,000mb which can hold about 4200 7mb 320kbps mp3s - that would be equivalent to your 42 cds to match my 1 ipod. i would prefer that over having to fumble with cds.

Well with an Ipod you can have your whole libary at your disposal and it plugs into your system in your house, on your computer at work, you can listen to it with headphones, and then you can plug it into your stang and listen to whatever you want without saying to yourself..........."F*ck I sure wish I had that song" But if MP3 CDs are your thing I guess thats your deal. Personally I have never even used the CD player in my stang. I have a 60G ipod with about 15,000 songs which is roughly 1500 reg Cds and 150 MP3 Cds. I guess Ford could make a 150 Cd changer

A 700MB CD can hold roughly 5-12 hours of MP3 songs depending on the compression ratio. A typical 30 minute commute will only allow you to listen to a finite number of songs. Now factor in the number of crappy songs, and the number of good songs you own/have and the MP3 CD isn't a terrible solution. I can't even fill an entire CD with MP3s that I like. The Shaker 500/1000 has an integrated 6 disc changer, so you can get about 35-84 hours worth of MP3 songs total.
