Even if I had the $$$$ to buy a C6-Z06 I wouldn't its just death waiting with that weak fiberglass
Wow what an intelligent post They have to stand up to the same crash tests as any other car. Also the main frame is an aluminum monocoque that is WAY stronger than ost other cars. BTW a Z06 has carbon fiber body panels.

Actually the Z06 is NOT crash tested
Have you ever seen a vette crash? they're completely unrecognizable even if the crash is only at 50

but ya 505 Crank HP is a fun thing to have

oh ya I forgot they changed to Carbon Fiber instead of Fiberglass

but having seen what I've seen happen to a C6-Z06 no way would I get in one

Ok, so I pull up to a light on a street with a 45 mile/hour speed limit. I look to my right and there it is... a brand new Z06. The guy gives it some gas to let me know that he wants to race. I simply ignore him, hoping to surprise him for an advantage. (I needed all I could get, I'm still bone stock). The light turns green and the Z06 makes a sound that I had never heard before. He just jumps out in front. I pull off the light like I normally would, I'm just gently accelerating. The Z06 slows down... and I punch it! I'm now a few car lenghts ahead. And then I heard that sound again! Holy s***! He flew by me like I was going backwards. The engine in that Z06 makes the greatest sound that I have ever heard from a car engine. It just screams "power." At any rate, we both slow down after hitting 60 mph and I pull up beside him and give me the thumbs up. Just thought that I'd share my tale of destruction at the hands of a Z06.
That sound that you never heard before I had not heard either till a week ago at the drags. I love my 07 GT, and its not even in the same class "what is?" as a Z06. You have to appreciate that car when you see and "hear" it run full out. I could not afford a Z06 but if money was no object I would have to have one.

As far as I'm concerned the best thing about the new Vettes is that they got rid of the popup headlights. 8 Years I fought with those things! 1/4 of the time I spent spinning them up by hand. What a pain.

I'd buy a new one if I had the cash, but seeing as I had to sell my old one to get the Mustang...

Was worth it though.

It's kinda funny that a Z06 owner felt the need to challenge a car in a lower league. Was he that desperate for attention? It just goes to show that $75K doesn't always buy happiness.
I don't see why you would say this. The Z06 owner was just out having fun enjoying his car. Same thing everyone else in this forums does.

Z06 is a nice car, problem is that it still looks to much like the C06 Vette. When you pay that kind of money, you want a unique car. I owned a couple Vette's and my arm got tired of waiving to other Vettes here in MI (GM Employees). I then purchased an 04 Viper... Viper's are rare to see on the road and perform close to the Z06. Many guys are putting Paxton's in Vipers and running 750HP+.... So if you have 75K, Buy a Viper and save for a Paxton, then run right buy any Vette. Now back to Mustang's. I sold my Viper and bought a Mustang 06 Vert. I've since super charged it, put on a shaker hood and a few other mods. I miss the Viper but the Mustang is a blast to drive too.

You say it looks too much like a normal vette. Yet between the fender flares, lower stance, different nose, etc, in person, comparing two identical painted vettes. One being a ZO6, and one being a standard C6. The ZO6 is simply awesome in comparison. Anything bland about the C6, has been beefed up on the ZO6.

I wanted one, but in truth, I was looking for a new daily driver and had to smack myself for looking at a ZO6 and even contemplating the thought of driving it in the winter for a moment. I have enough pampered cars at the moment. And the mustang is supposed to be my "driver" and still gets pampered.

ya the C6-Z06 is based on the C6
just as the C5-Z06 is based on the C5
I think the C5-Z06 is almost identical to the C5 at least on the C6-Z06 they made it look more different then the car its based on

Funny thing is that I am THE furthest thing from a Vette guy, despite the fact that build custom ones for a living, but I have to say the C6 and the Z06 is really starting to grow on me. I will be in the market for a new car in a couple years and depending on what the new Camaro ends up being and if Ford has anything like the 03/04 Cobras, a C6 Z06 might be in the cards for me. Time will tell.
