Went to the dealership this AM to pick up my chrome tips (they forgot to install them -- I have no use for them, since I switched to axle backs, but I'll take 'em to sell 'em anyway), and while there, I brought the service advisor over to see the 15 - 20 nice scratches in my tint. Conversation went something like this:
ME: "Hey, see these scratches in my tint? Does Ford have a TSB or a fix for this?" (knowing full well that they don't)
SERVICE ADVISOR: "You know, tint on the side windows is illegal in California."
ME: "You don't see those scratches?"
SA: "Sure, but we're not responsible for that, since, you know, tint on the side windows is illegal in California."
ME: "So, have you seen any other Mustangs with this problem?" (having seen 3 or 4 GTs in the service bay, half with tinted side windows)
SA: "Nope."
ME: "Really? That's not what people are saying online."
SA: "Ford is not responsible. By the way, you know that tint is illegal in California."
Yes, that helpful service department. Their "fix" is to deny there is a problem. Nice, huh?
By the way, I did get the moleskin kit, which I will install before the re-tint.

Thats like buying a non CARB exempt(not street legal) CAI off ebay and getting mad at Ford when they wont fix it if the hood hit the filter and broke the filter.
My Ford dealer just did last week....maybe it is because allot of Florida dealers get the aftermarket tint put on before they sell the cars......and more importantly as my service advisor laughed off, hmmm have never seen that problem before (with much sarcasm) and said, dont worry we will take care of and low and behold they did..maybe some dealers honestly know this is an issue and want to fix it.....maybe i just have a really decent service team at my local Ford dealer..I did not even buy my stang from them, I bought it from a ford dealer 25 miles away in St Pete....but they still did it...

I must be missing something... Why is Ford responsible for damage to something you added to the car? If the windows themselves were getting scratched, you'd have a case.

I am having major issues with my window tint being scratched. My tint warranty does not cover scratching due to manufacturer defect (ford.) and my ford dealership refuses to investigate this problem because the SA tells me that it is little peices of sand and drit that get caught in the felt causing it to scratch. I am really frustrated by this because this is the only car that I have only had that the tint has scratched all over the place. He told me because it was a convertible that the seal around the window causes this.
sorry to hear that backinblack06...my SA just did it.....its weird how some dealers and SA will duck and hide while others stand behind their vehicles...your SA is wrong about the convertible thing, mine is hardtop and had same issues.

I've tinted the windows on all my cars and trucks. And I've had a problem with the "tint", its all on the outside of the window. The scratches were from dirt and crap on the OUTSIDE and the window being rolled up and down IMO thats why its not fords problem, your the one not cleaning your car. Or a I the only one who's vehicle gets dirty on the outside? BTW never had problems with tint on the stang.
