Ford Dealer Fix for Tinted Windows!
My factory tint gets scratches in it too, tons, both inside and outside. The weird thing is, if I use warm water and car soap, they go away. But once the sun hits them again, they're back. I may be mistaken, but isn't there a TSB on the factory tint scratching? I thought I read that on here somewhere...
true Riggs007, if indeed EVERYONE was the same as yours....my scratches were on the INSIDE of the window and were caused by something with the rubber trim creasing, it was also caused by a FORD TSB problem regarding this issue. these scratches on most people who have complained about it here are happening in their tint,,which of course is on the INSIDE of the window, not the outside.....this is also NOT AN EVERY stang issue....it is SOME of the stangs had this issue..some still do....some have cheap tint...some don't....in MY OWN case (that is the only one I CAN SPEAK FOR, ) ford determined it was THEIR FAULT and they Fixed the stripping as well as added the new felt, they also replaced the TINT to the inside of my window....how does the DIRT on the outside of the window scratch the tint which is on the INSIDE....as you are stating?? so to come here and make a bold statement that someone is NOT cleaning their car that is why their window tint is scratching makes it sound like you have an interest in Ford, )are you a ford employee ??) or just ignorant to what people are stating here...I am still perplexed how the PROBLEMS with your tint on all of your cars and trucks was on THE OUTSIDE of your window....HOW?? TINT IS ON THE INSIDE??...maybe a new way of installing the tint....

I've tinted the windows on all my cars and trucks. And I've had a problem with the "tint", its all on the outside of the window. The scratches were from dirt and crap on the OUTSIDE and the window being rolled up and down IMO thats why its not fords problem, your the one not cleaning your car. Or a I the only one who's vehicle gets dirty on the outside? BTW never had problems with tint on the stang.

yes....you probably read that this in several posts..it depends on your dealer and what they are willing to take responsibility for and what they will do to retain your business...some dealers like mine here in Florida....have been extremely helpful and willing to fix it...it is indeed a scratch in the TINT it self...it is not caused (In my case) by dirt in the windows (Inside or out) it was caused by faulty workmanship with the stripping on the door panel (straight from my SA mouth, in fact it is on my bill if anyone would like me to scan and show ya..in fact I will post later) the scratches in my tint actually had ridges you can feel with your fingenail...they were going vertical up my window and were by the door handle, mirror area as well as by the lock..the stripping on my car when you looked at it had little creases in it and were very hard...they replaced them as well as installed a soft felt to prevent this from happening again. many are investing in the moleskin stuff, personally I would have had my dealer refused to fix it...but they did fix it without question...check with your dealer first

If the scratches are caused by a car part inside the door then its fords problem. But im sure alot of the problems are form scratches on the outside of the window and since the tint is dark, the contrast make the scratches bolder. If the car parts are causing the scratches, the should replace/fix the window but, if tint is illegal in your state. I dont think they have to replace the tint cause you not supposed to have it on in the first place.
Riggs Again I understand what you are saying, but MOST PEOPLE I have read said the scratches are IN THEIR TINT itself...(ie: like mine they could feel the ridges in the tint) now exterior window scratches would be in the GLASS not the tint. I agree if the tint is illegal in their state then they cant use that claim, UNLESS THEY INSTALLED it (They being the dealer) ....then they cant ..and how can you state (But im sure alot of the problems are form scratches on the outside of the window and since the tint is dark, the contrast make the scratches bolder.) how can you say this with certainty...that is my question to you

Go and run a grove onto the outside of your window and look at it from the inside. the scratch with look white against the tint. How do I know? Cause I have them all over my 4x4 truck windows.
I was just pointing out that ford is looking at the scratches as on the outside window, not their problem.
