Default FRPP Exhaust(not stingers)

Does anyone have the frpp axle back, not the stingers but the gta model? If so are they much louder than stock and is there any drone? Please help its my girlfriends mustang and she can't stand the frpp stingers. I need an alternative that still sounds good. I can't make her mad, because she is letting me do what i want to the car.

Tpafire5,

The mufflers that StowesStang mentions are the Borla stingers, sound great but lots of drone. I had them but could not stand the drone over the long haul. I recently purchased and installed the Supreme Preformance GTAs from Ninosports. Supreme Performance makes the "GTAs" for Ford Racing - exact same muffler.

My impressions are that they are slightly louder than stock, but not impressively so. Moderate increase and deeper pulse at Idle, cruise every so slight louder, WOT slight louder with a little deeper more aggressive tone. There is minimal to no drone at all. These mufflers of coarse are the ones used stock on the Shelby GTH. On the GTH, however, there is an X-pipe, not an H-pipe. I believe the mufflers sound better and even slightly more loud with the X-pipe from the sound clips I have been able to gather.

I'm pretty happy with them, but feel they are not that much of a step up from the stock. On the positive side, the car still sounds relatively stock and there is no drone. I just installed them this weekend and others have reported that the "season" a little bit after driving for a few hundred miles and get a little louder, so I am reserving my final judgement until then. The other things I am strongly considering are either getting the FRPP X-pipe or going with the Flowmaster A/Ts. The flows are louder than stock, wake up pretty good at WOT, and have minimal/mild drone, but nothing like the Stingers from reports: Here are a few sound clips:

GTA's with stock H-pipe:
This is not as good a sound clip as the one on Mustangexhaust.com - Supreme performance, but it would not come up right now.

Stingers or not My car being a chicks car, I absolutely love how they sound. I had a guy in my neighborhood follow me to my house because his wife told him about my car she heard driving in the neighborhood and totally digged the way it sounded. So he followed me to find out what they were because she wanted to put exhaust on her new mustang..........so honestly, its just a matter of the type of sound she likes (if she is particular about it and knows what she likes)......if I ever get time to make a sound clip.....Ill shoot it your way my friend.....

Thanks for your help, If you where in my situation would you trade the stingers in for a quieter brand or just deal with it. I like how the flowmasters sound the gta sound good but they sound raspy with the x pipe.

I have the FRPP Borlas in my '06 vert. Loud and droney as hell with the top up. Pure music with the top down (granted, exhaust sound is PURELY subjective, so one man's noise is another man's music). If the car was my daily driver I would remove them, eBay em, and put on some Corsas.

Since it is not my daily driver, I currently love them.

Have the GTA's installed on my 06. No drone, they are a little deeper & slightly louder than stock. They do 'age' after a few hundred miles & get a bit louder. Not a loud exhaust by any means, but a noticable improvement over stock IMO. I had a louder set installed(IMCO),but removed due to the drone issue. I'm quite happy with the GTA's. This is my daily driver.

The car I traded in was an 04 GT 4.6 5-speed. It had Flowmaster 40's and a BBK o/r X-pipe (no headers, no CATS). That car was loud as hell and at mid range RPMs sounded like a marble in a tin can!!! Im not complaining because I really liked that loud, crazy sound on my GT. It was what I wanted at the time. A basic set up with an x-pipe is going to put out more loud then an h-pipe. Now with my 07, a new body style, I just wanted something more quiet, more throaty (like old school glasspacks) but still louder than stock; I got that from the FRPP Borlas. I love them and wouldnt change them because they give me the sound I was looking for. But as 6xStang put it.... "granted, exhaust sound is PURELY subjective, so one man's noise is another man's music" and I really agree with that statement.

You are looking for the exhaust that are put on the Hertz GT-H's. I have not heard it personally, but from what I read it's fairly quiet.

I have the FRPP Stingers on my 06 GT 5-Speed. Around town and on level roads, the drone is very minimal. In the mountains, pulling a grade it can get annoying. I was going to go with the Corsa's until I was driving down the freeway a couple of weeks ago and came across a 05-06 GT with a 5-Speed. It had the Corsa system on it and I could tell by the round muffers that hung down and the beveled tips. It sounded like CRAP on the freeway. I was able to pace the car from behind and beside crusing in my Honda (quiet) and even my buddy who was with me said that car sounded like crap. I was about to drop the $600 on the Corsa system until I heard it in person on the road. He was lugging the car at times and you could tell there was not any drone, but it sounded BAD. The FRPP Stingers sound agressive and deep so I've decided to hang onto them. It was just by some chance I came across a car with the Corsa's and I'm glad I did. I've heard sound clips of the Corsa's taking off and they sound pretty good, but on the freeway, that particular car sounded bad.
