Anyone know what to expect from cams?
Hey everyone, just seeing if anyone has any experience with cams on our stangs. I wanted to get the CompCams Stage3 kit from Brenspeed, but am not sure on install expecting $650+ and really am not sure if the performance gains are accurate. Will this contribute to a big deal of power and most of all cut my quarter mile time by a decent amount.
Let me know guys, i'm really not sure if this is the right route to go for me and i'm looking into FI later down the road.

Your S197 Mustang already has cams - 2 of them - along with Fuel Injection, which you want to get "later"????? LOL

Wow, before your laugh again make sure you know what you are talking about
A lot of people say upgrading cams don't really help that much in our cars, but if you look at an f-body, you can get huge gains from them. And F/I is forced induction which is a turbo or blower.
Cams wont interfere with any F/I, just remember 425-450 rwhp is the cutoff for stock internals.

Not sure if those gains are accurate but if they are, then Id say go for it.. Looks like a good setup and Brent knows his stuff.

Virgule are you an idiot, why don't you go waste a post somewhere else. It's common sense that our car has cams and I thought it was quite obvious I was infering about going with an aftermarket set and was asking for opinions not a dumb@ss to chime in and make a smartass remark.

Thanks... yours however is slightly wrong.
Cams DO have alot to do with FI later on down the road. Brents website says his cams are "mild", which means it probably wouldnt hurt to use them now and then SC later. However if Nothsa were to go with too wild of a cam he would have to replace them later on before SCing because wild cams want higher compression where as FI wants lower compression.
