Last night I did a burnout while a guy I knew was outside watching. It was a good burnout, I never let the car get over 6k RPMs, and from inside it sounded like a good healthy burnout. My Magnaflows were all I could hear. But... later I saw this guy again and he says, "I had never heard a car backfiring while it was doing a burnout." At first I thought he was joking but then realized he wasn't. If it was backfiring wouldn't I have heard it? What could that mean if he's correct?

 

Sounds like you may have hit the rev limiter a few times.

i know sometime i bounce off the rev limiter when smoking the tires and it does sound like its backfiring....i would think you would have heard it, maybe the guy is a dumbass [8D]

 

He's a dumbass. Highly unlikely that you were backfiring. You'd notice it in everyday driving.

 

I you play ping pong with the limiter it could sound similar... Maybe, I just hear it bog and pull the timing.
