Default SN95 vs. S197 rims

Ok, I'm sure this has been asked already......and I have found some threads relating to this (but without satisfactory info that I need): What differences am I looking at between a rim for a 98 GT and an 05 GT? I ask because I'm about to step up to 18" DD bullitts from my stock 17's....and my g/f would like to put my stock 17's onto her 98 GT vert. I heard a long time ago about there being a difference in the lug pattern? If anyone has info to this effect, or an idea of how difficult it'd be to get 05+ rims onto a 98, I'd appreciate it.

Lug pattern is the same but the offset is different, +45mm for the 05 and +24mm for the 98.

Would that make my wheels less compatible with her car?.........or the other way around?

i have 04 wheels on mine and they stick out a little. I assume this means it would be farther in hers maybe causing some rub

So I'm wondering if I'd need to use spacers on her 98 to make my 05 rims fit...

Anyone know if spacers are a good idea?

No, they'll fit(no rubbing as far as I know) but they'll look funny sitting further inward than proper SN95 outset wheels. In fact on Fox body 'Stangs('79-'93) the 17" S197 Bullitts are a better fit than the SN95 Bullitts, because of the offset not interfering with the smaller wheelwell openings. There's a New Edge V-6 around the corner from my house that has the '05 GT machined finished wheels
(non-Bullitt 17") and they fit fine, if somewhat inward for my taste(but not too bad). Just trial fit them this weekend. Good luck!

Thanks guys. Yea, my DD bullitts go on tomorrow, so I may see about trying to fit my stockers on the 98. Hopefully they look ok.

They should look fine. Last night, I was heading into the movie theatre and a red Sn95 caught my eye in the parkinglot. What did it was the fact that on the car were the same stock 17s that were on my 05 Mustang- and they looked great on it.
