need help, strange problem
okay so about a month ago my car was at a body shop and while it was there I had my calipers painted. Well ever since when I would push on the brake I would hear some kind of pop or knock coming from up front. It went away for about a week but it came back and it was just as bad as before. But today, I started driving straight and there is this horrible knocking noise that gets louder and faster as i increase in speed. When I am doing about 45 it gets really bad and my steering wheel vibrates alot. It almost sounds like my tire has a flat. This noise only goes away when I am turning or I have the brakes engaged, but once i straighten the wheel or let off the brake it comes back. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?
Did the shop paint your calipers? Did they take them out to paint them? If so, they may have screwed up the re-install...you may want to take it to another shop to have your brakes looked over...it's obviously that something ain't right..hope its not too late to fix.
Check your lug nuts also... lol. I guess it's not too uncommon. I remember one guy on the forums had his car serviced, they over tightened the lug nuts and they ended up sheering the studs off... and his wheel fell off and he ended up losing control and smacked into a pole, or something along those lines.
Well..if it still under warranty ford may give you a hassle for taking the car to another shop...if not, then first tryyour shop and if that does not work or still messed up then take it to a ford dealer...however..if your local shop does not know how to reinstall breaks then that's another deal...that would be one of those [sm=icon_beat.gif] things that makes you go..hmmmmmm...
