Default Need help! Engine taking longer to start

Hey guys,

Lately, as in the last week I have noticed that my car takes a couple more seconds to start that it did when new. The first few times I actually let go of the key before it started because I was so used to knowing how long it took to fire up.

Things I know:

Car has 8500 miles with the normal scheduled maintenance.
CAI and tune at 600 miles and have run a few racing events and like to drive it hard once in a while.

Usually during this week, the car will start up faster the second and third time after the initial long time to start during the same day. Also car runs good, no misses etc.

Could it be time for new plugs (and if so what do you guys recommend with my mods), wires, battery going out on me?

when i started having this problem the battery was dead a few weeks after.

Get the battery checked out, if it's going bad its replaced under warranty.

Just a thought...but it is getting cooler and depending on where you live and if you keep the car outside it may just be very cold. Could also be the hbattery going bad but dont think so as you said it starts faster on teh 2nd or 3rd try. Could also just be some bad gas.

Once the car is warm and you shut it off...does it start on the first try when you restart it.

I live in North Chicago and the car sits outside in the parking lot, its been down in the low fortys temp wise I think. I don't drive it everyday but usually once a day.

i thought it would start better because it has the charge from driving.

Im in the South burbs and mines been outside also.
12k miles with a CAI and tune, no issues to note.

Maybe the fuel pump is not holding pressure?
