NOPE!! If you just put a generic lighter in it will NOT work, I have one in mine just to replace the 12 volt plastic cap I actually have 2 that I cycle in and out one looks like a big red **** or button that I tell people is for the ejection seat the other looks like a 10 gauge shotgun shell.

You should be able to get a generic lighter socket from AutoZone and just change out the power point socket. Should be a lot cheaper than Ford.

Do yourself a favor and quit smoking. You'll enjoy that Pony a lot longer.

Alright, I’ll bite. I thought this was a tech question and not an outlet for the non smoking crowd to look condescendingly down there noses at the big bad smokers. Maybe I am way off base here but if you want to debate the inherent evilness of smoking then shouldn’t you be SmokingSux.com forum and not a Mustang forum.

Shoulda known better, but thought someone here might have tried.
I'll check into the generic Autozone or similar, knew about Ford's accessory pack, but am not gonna spend 40+ for a lighter.
Thanks for the tech replies, the rest of you, do what you will with your ride & life, I'll do what I will with mine.

"anybody install push button ignition"

Heck Ya!

Ya Ya Ya I know it is a completly pointless mod....but it does look friggin cool, and it is better than the power plug or any of those billet pieces.
