it an auto, i can floor it from a dead stop without spinnin the tires. i would think it would spin, so i thought the tc was kicking in but i don't see the light.
Either you have really sticky, good tires, or its really hot, or youre severely underpowered (doubt its this one). Even stock, I could smoke tires til the cows came home and left for work the next morning. Try pushing firmly on the brake w/ TC ON and then slowly revving until the rears break loose. I guarentee the light will flash then.. IF it doesnt, you have a problem with the TCS and it should be checked by a dealer.

All of this assuming you actually HAVE the TCS.. I was just told by someone that not all models have it, and apparently it comes with an upgrade package? Anyone confirm that?

i have turned off the tc and fried the tires once, for a friend, i've never tried with tc on. this is something i can't see doing to much, it is hard on everything tires, rearend, even the fenders. i was just wondering why the light didn't come on when it kick sideways on me on a wet road, maybe it wasn't bad enough i corrected it pretty quickly.

Right, it isnt that good, its not something you want to do often, just if you wanted to try it to make sure your TCS is working. And yes often times, sliding the rear end around isnt enough to kick on TC, its most always when you are sliding around and you goose it, then one wheel will grab and the other wont, forcing TC to take over and pull timing.

My car loves to jump sideways when burning out, and even when I accidently left TCS on, I never got the light.

I've never heard of that Blink, I know I sat in a bare-bones-we-wouldn't-have-added-a-passanger-seat-if-we-could've-gotten-away-with-it '05 V6 'stang and it had TCS. Hell, even a basline Focus had TCS.

Hm, maybe I was given some bad information then. Sorry guys [&:]

And yeah when burning out you can forget sitting still... even more so with my tune and intake. The rearend actually moves off to the side about a foot... always seems to be the left side too.

If the traction control is turned off in the tune the swirvy car icon will stay illuminated. If that icon bothers you then don't turn it off in the tune, just press the button after you start the car and no more swirvy car icon.

I thought that icon was always on when the traction control is off? Mine is always on after loading a traction control free tune.

Yes when you lose traction (or the computer thinks you are) it will kick in and youll get a small flashing icon on your dash. It looks like a swirving car with some squiggly lines behind it. There is also the button on the dash that says either on or off.

This business of trying to figure out if TCS is working and what lights indicate it, seems difficult to do on dry pavement. On wet roads that should be a different story. Now that it is raining a lot and there are wet leaves on the ground, I thought I would once and for all determine under what conditions TCS works and what lights come on. Well on the wet with TCS on, the wheels easily spin in 1st and 2nd, and I don't see the yellow icon with swervy tracks come on. Maybe there is a delay? If so, it seems to be too long as I get off the gas after a second or so to keep the car under control. I did verify that the icon does come on momentarily on starting the car, and of course, the TCS button is NOT lit, indicating the system is ON.

Oh it doesn't bother me, traction control does though and that's why I got rid of it.

If youre simply wanting to test out whether your system works or not, my test will work, and works even better on dry pavement than on wet, and on wet pavement will most likely result in wheel hop. All you have to do is push on the brake, put it in drive, push the brake down as far as possible with your left foot and push on the gas with your right. The rear tires will break free of the rear brakes and youll get a traction control light providing you left traction control ON.

This is because the TC system is not perfect and it has flaws. The system cannot accurately tell when the tires are spinning and not grasping pavement providing theyre both spinning at the same relative speed! When the system kicks on and pulls timing is when it gets the signal that one tire is spinning at a different speed than the other which indicates that one tire is not grasping as it should, meaning a loss of traction.

at the place where I work the road is a bit dusty and if I floor or near floor it after the last monster speed bump the swervy light comes on and blinks
Man these speed bumps are big there for slowing down 18 wheelers
