Here is the only photo I have so far of the damage. I stuck my hand and camera under the car and snapped this. You will notice that above the oil pan on the lower edge of the block the big piece missing.

Is that what its worth in the U.S? Wow, you guys are lucky. I paid over 40K in 2005. Then you add the wonderful Quebec 15% taxes. The exange rate was no more that 10 to 15%.
I would agree that the bang for the buck is definitely there. I hoped they would have put a similar engine than the Cobra had. They should have known that with the looks of this car, we were going to mod the hell out of it.

It literally blows be away that we blows engines in the 400hp range when a kid with a 97 corolla can probably put laughing gas and get 400 safely.

Seriuosly, I’ve always wondered why Ford went backward with the evolution of there engines. I mean the 04 Cobra engine would have been sweet in our cars...

Forged internals should be fine, but for me I need a new block so I will go with the cobra iron block.
because in 1997 that corolla probably cost around what you bought your gt for new (compensating for inflation). seriously...think about it. 300hp v8 mustang for 25k vs any import. none of them can match 300 horses in a package like the mustang for the price.

Always remember you can't drive a modded car like you used to while it was stock. You just can't downshift on any gear down to like 5k rpm when it is at full boost and floor it. You will probably break it sooner or later. You gotta baby it, I have seen 500ish rwhp on stock blocks being run for more than 5 months now. You just gotta take care of it.

Well that is why I wont have a stock block much longer. That way I can drive it like I stole it.

Yes I am getting a new short block this week. Hopefully the car will be running good in March when I get back home.

They had to keep the price down duhhh, have you seen the price of the terminators crate engine lately. It's like 15K or is that the GT500 engine? but they had to keep the price down some how. I would love for ford to make the stock gt w/ all forged inernals N/A so it will be ready for high boost right out the box. But what u gonna do? besides buying it yourself.

Yeah you'd figure that this new mustang would handle a 33% increase in power.........power made by shoving more air into an engine with high compression (first turbo no-no).....an ALL alluminum engine (second cringe).......with only a few years of production (straw that broke the camel's back)......and a varible runner intake tuned for n/a applications....... Now, don't let my sarcasm seem like an attitude, but I think that some of your expectations may be a little unreasonable. Believe me, I would like to say that this engine could handle three times the power it came with (like toyotas 2jz-gte supra engine)......but it can't. The block actually is stronger than the cast iron 5.0 cousin.... Livernois built a 3 valve with over 700hp.......emphasis on the word "BUILT".

so what would you say are the main limiting factors
Rotating assembly (crank, connecting rods, Pistons)
the block its self
the heads

I ask because I'm interested in a KB 2.6 or 2.8 and would like to see 550 RWHP if I do buy a KB and I would like to know which parts are the biggest limiting parts
