Nailing down the infamous dead battery problem
The optima battery is listed as the same height but the terminals are not recessed like the motorcraft are, I think its too tall. I put in an Interstate MTP-40R. It fit good but the little blanket would not go around it. My 06 Motorcraft battery had a bad cell which I verified with a good old hydrometer. Couldn't justify changing my pullies & returning to stock & a day at the dealer for $80.00.
Same here, I have the base radio and my battery drained down within 3-4 weeks after I got my 07. I had it looked at twice, the first time they said there wasn't a problem andI must have left something running. A few days later I was back again with a dead battery, this time they replaced the battery. The same thing has happened with the new battery, 3-4 weeks later it has drained down again. Let me know if you learn anything new; I can't blame the Shaker if i don't have it.

Well it finally happened to me too!!
I've seen many many many posts on this and never commented because it never affected me.
My car is strictly a weekend car, and given all the crappy weather in Denver recently I havent driven it very often this season. I DID drive it just last weekend with no problems.
Today I wanted to drive it to work because it's so nice out today. Battery is nearly drained and as soon as I put the key in the ignition the Shaker500 started going crazy. The obvious issue as noted here seems to be the Shaker as the main culprit. Luckily though I've had the car for over a year and a half and this is the first time it has happened.

Me too, me too. But, since I read the previous thread and started turning off the radio it hasn't happened. Not impressed with the Shaker 1000. Local custom Mustang guy reports that the factory Ford batteries really suck and it is a good idea to get a good one.
Well......I have to say....add me to the list. I am currently out of state and asked my spouse to drive the thing around a bit while I was gone. She forgot for about 5 straight days and you know the story....the thing will not even start. Guess I'll jump start that thing (it's auto) when I get home ...time to re-read all the posts again....not sure what did it, of course. I know doggone well everything was turned off....
It was becauseof these threads as far back as early 2005about the Skippers is why I got my car with the base radio and installed the Pioneer AVIC-D2. it is a better unit and no issues what so ever.
Put my car up at the end of December (with the radio turned off). Started it without any problem 4 weeks later and let it run for about an hour before putting it away. Did the same after another 4 weeks.
After sitting for two weeks, the battery is absolutely dead today - the first good weather day since mid-January.
This is the sort of intermittent problem that will never get fixed and I am pissed.

WTF - as soon as I hooked the charger to the battery the damned car started honking like a goose!
The sound emanated from the right front of the engine compartment and the right turn signal was blinking (although the turn signal lever was NOT off center). The sound lasted about 30 seconds and, when it ended, the battery appeared to have full power restored.
In 35 years of driving this is the strangest thing I've ever seen.

no starting issues at all here, i use my car only on weekends. I like my shaker head unit also. I had a bowe system in my last car (a nissan maxima) Now that, was a piece of ****!
