That is a picture of the mustang from the movie "Bullitt".
Yes and no... it's an excellent replica of the Bullit Mustang... and its photographs are everywhere... the owner even has a replica tweed sportscoat (like Steve McQueen wore in the movie) to go along with it.

Last I heard, the original Bullit Mustang was still sitting in a barn somewhere, with an owner who doesn't want to part with it for any amount of money.

Jim is correct. That's a replica from a Ford advertisement for the 2001 "Bullitt" GT. I cropped out the 2001. The replica is good. There were 2 1968 fastbacks used in the movie and the one that survived is supposedly in a barn in Kentucky or Tennessee. Check out

The point of this thread was supposed to be less is more ... oh well ...

I watched the movie Bullitt last night. The license plate looks familiar. I think it's the same as in the movie. Can't say for sure since I took the DVD back today.

I agree, less is more, but a pony emblem on the grill is WAY NICE>>>>

I think it's ok but not the way Ford did it with the black plastic molded surround. Should have just been a simple attachment, then those who want to remove, add back, etc could do so.

OK ... here's another example from the less is more world ... I like this grille - minus the trident emblem ...

I also like how this car is unique enough for the passerby to pause and ask, "What is it?" Notice it doesn't have stripes screaming "Maserati".

Actually the interesting thing is that they removed the emblems and stripped the car down lookswise (logo off the wheel center cap, changed the color of the rocker panels, etc..) for the movie Bullitt.

There is a great list of everything they did in one of the latest issues of MotorTrend classic that shows you what you need to do to make you 68 look like the movie car....

That's what I was thinking as well Burke0011. The Bullitt that started this thread is a great car (and a great chase scene) -- but the factory Mustangs weren't "clean" and devoid of emblems. The 1967 and 1968 had the running horse grill in the "corral" emblem when they came from the factory. Many of them came with stripes as well. And there was a lot of chrome compared to today.
