Default Diablosport/SCT ?

Whick is the better tuner in guys opinion ( I know its the programs that are put inside of it that make the differnce but I mean the tuner physically). One other question, does anyone out there run say a 91 tune on 87 and have pinging problems or any problems otherwise? Im thinkin bout the JLT CAI because they are claimed to have the highest HP gain but the WMS kit is really nice too (jus a lil less power from what I read) What do you guys think?

Wow, this is a tough one cause you gotta fine someone who has tried both of the tuners. I have the Diablo and am very happy with it. It comes with multiple tunes for both 91 and 93 octane. Plus lots of tunes for specific Cold Air Kits and a supercharged, it will also allow fine tuning of fuel mixture and timing. The preprogrammed tunes I have tried work well and I have not had any pinging problems at all.

What I mean is if you program it to 91 or 93 octane and you run 87 will it ping really bad? I wanna go for all out power so I think the JLT is the way to go but to tune it with diablo or an sct is the ?

You should definitely NOT use any other grade of fuel than the one it is specifically tuned for. Especially if it is downgraded.

I have the predator and I don't understand why the instructions say to use premium fuel, but it has tunes for 87 and 91 octane.
Also, the instructions where a little confusing to me, at first, since it didn't specifically say that the "Performance tune" was for 93 Octane.
Well, the first time I tuned my car, I used the "Performance tune" and started noticing pinging or knocking at hard accel so I retuned it back to stock.
Even after I had tuned it back to stock, I still heared the same noise so I put in premium fuel and it eventually went away.
At my next fillup, I put in 87 and didn't hear it anymore.

With our great (not) California fuel blends, I had to have my tuner take about 3* of timing out of all my tunes due to pinging. The gas here is horrible (and I buy the best grade fuel I can find - not the cheap Arco crap), and the 87, 89, and 91 tunes seem to not take into account the California fuels.

After the tune fix though, I'm running great.

By the way... SCT XCal 2. Construction is kind of cheap, but who cares -- I see it for two minutes.

If you are going to use a shop to help custom tune, I would ask what they use and get that.

Its not as important as to which is the best tuning device...........it is more important to find the best tuner with the best customer service.

By the way Doug with Bamachips offers both tuning devices.[sm=gears.gif]
