2006 mustang in rain and snow
how bad is it
couple months ago i traded my 2001 jeep cherokee lifted with 33s for my currnet mustnag 2006 v6
now i took a long drive this weekend with my friends
left friday durring the heavy wind and rain
so i was coming to a stop sign
i slowly hit the breaks like normal
but i guess the wheels locked and the car completly kept going
went through the intersection and in the oppsite lane...
luckly no one was in the opposite lane or else it would have been bad
i quickly to the car back on the right side..and was ok..just scared to drive the rest of the way their!!
now is the stang gonna alwasy be like this espesically in the snow???
how bad are they in the rain and snow! (i know its rear wheel drive)

drive carefully i guess, does yours have tcs / abs?
even so, i drive my 250whp 2400lb 240sx in heavy rain no problems and it doesnt have tcs , abs or any of that crap, you just gotta take it easy... although a couple of times i found my self going a tad bit farther then i wanted too =O

The stock 16" BFG's are lousy in the rain, IMO. I bought a set of 17" silvert Bulitt take-offs from Haney Motorsports with the sole intention of mounting a set of "winter" tires. Also, I just bought nine 4x8x16 cinder blocks (purposely broke one in half to make them fit), which all lay flat in the trunk of my coupe. They weigh 33# each, so you can do the math. Plus, it still gives me a usable trunk space.

I have a set or Perillis with the rims that I will sell you if you want. They are the ones I took off my car when I bought it new, maybe 10 miles on them. I find the Perillis are very good in the rain, I have no idea about the snow.

Yeah, the Mustangs aren't so hot for the snow. It's a nice ugly winter here (lots of snow and ice) and I've definitely been sliding around with my Pony, but if you just try to go easy (which I know can be tricky, given the touchy throttle) you can pretty much make it around okay. Haven't really had any issues with rain, but the snow and ice have been a bit tricky so far.
Better tires (for the rain or the snow or whatever you need), drive defensively (don't want anyone else to smash into your nice mustang either) and just take your time.

If you intend the drive the car in the winter, you definitely want a set of DEDICATED snow tires. They make a HUGE difference! The stock tires are just really not very good for poor weather driving.
A little weight in the back (some sandbags) will help you to get more traction when accelerating. They also help if you get stuck!
If you need some pricing on some snow tires or a wheel and snow tire package, drop us an email at sales@fasttoys.net.
