Default Trunk opening up while driving?

For 2 days now my trunk has been openneing nearly everytime I drive my car. The annoying beeping sound does not stop until I pull over and close it. In fact, it has even done it twice on the same trip. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm going to call my local dealership tomorrow to get this resolved. It may have something to do with my passenger side airbag light off light being on for the past few days constantly? My car is an '05 V6

Its probably you causing the trunk to open. You probably hit the remote open button on the key fob whenever you pull out or put back the keys into your pocket.Or when your driving the key swings and the fob button hits something just enough to activate the trunk release. It happens to me all the time.

Make sure you don't have something in the trunk hitting the trunk pull handle. I had this problem for a few days then realized a box was sliding and pulling the handle.

Does this happen while you're driving? Ya'd think there would be a safety interlock that would not allow the trunk to open while the car was in motion...

I'm pretty sure, if I remember the owner's manual properly, that there is a safey mechanism that will not allow the trunk to pop open if you exceed 3 or 5mph. If you're driving over these speeds and it's popping open, I would bet it's something electrical.

I've had the same happen to me, either my toolbox was hitting the pull handle or I hit the fob. Good thing I have all those speed bumps in my neighborhood or I'd have to get out and close it myself <bump>.

You probably need to wrap more duct tape around the hands of the midget you are keeping in there so she will stop pulling on the handle.
