Default Those who put in aftermarket head units

Hey everyone,

Just wondering if, those of you who have put in new head units to replace the Shaker500, did you notice any decrease in sound quality? I'm not planning on changing my speakers, so I was just wondering if the quality was at least the same.

I'm looking at getting this and the Sirius tuner for it.

I just did a Alpine CDA-9856 (i believe is the model #) and the sound QUALITY is amazing, only thing i dont like is the shaker 500 had the amp in it to power the door subs, now im going to do a small 4 channel amp to power my new dorr components and the door subs i guess.

A quality head unit will expose the lack of quality in the stock speakers.

I've heard that an aftermarket HU will make it noticably better sound quality. I am looking for one with an HD tuner in it..

Adding an aftermarket head unit will make your stock speakers sound better. Most aftermarket units have stronger amps, and better sound processing than stock. The only way it would make it sound worse is if you decide to add subs and an amp for the subs then your stock mids and highs will be drowned out.

My Pioneer Navi. unit makes the system sound much better. In the future when the stock speakers go bad...that's when I'll invest in some new ones.

I would highly recommend getting one of these as well... Makes the install a breeze and it comes with RCA cables to attach your sub output on your new head unit to the stock ford subs.

Plus if you buy your stereo from Crutchfield they will give you the harness, dash kit, antenna adapter, complete installation instructions, and shipping for free. I wouldn't buy from anywhere else.
