I've got the Mac mufflers and have only driven the car twice with them installed. They will be coming off this weekend. The drone is worse than any of the probably 20 aftermarket exhausts I've had on various cars for the last 15 years.

Nah, it's a valid question. Basically at certain rpms the exhaust will hit a frequency that is actually uncomfortable to listen to. I think many people mistake real drone for just being able to hear their exhaust. I don't think any of us would complain about hearing the car in general. You'll know if you experience drone when you start squinting and having to pop your ears like when you're on an airplane, lol. It is not uncommon for people to report headaches and even a sort of "sea sick" feeling due to the sound frequencies. Also note that drone doesn't really have anything to do with how good an exhaust sounds, it's more of a by-product...

I thought MACs were not supposed to drone?

Hmm, they drone worse than any aftermarket muffler I've ever heard. If you search around a bit on here and on stangnet you'll find many people having the same issue I'm having with them. Right now I'm just trying to decide which ones to try next...

BTW - Maybe the V6 mufflers do not drone...?

Why the ***** would anyone WANT drone, especially if they could have a nice sounding exhaust without it?????

Drone IS NOT the sound of a nice muscle car exhaust. Drone is a harmonic that occurs at a certain RPM or RPM range that is low in frequency and annoying to most anyone who has actually heard it.

There are mufflers out there that have a nice throaty muscle sound to them, and DO NOT drone. FRPP GTA's and Corsa are two of them

There could be some benefits...no?
If you consider a headache to be a benefit then yes.
