Gas Milage

RE: Gas Milage
I just completed a trip across southern Idaho. Trip computer for the return segment shows an average of 70 MPH and fuel economy was 25.3 MPG. I have an '06 GT 5 speed, GMS intake/MAF combo and ran Chevron 87 octane. This was about 60% two lane state highway and 40% interstate, and yes, I exceeded the posted 75 MPH limits. Around town I get around 16-17.5 MPG.

I've had my 2007 for 2 weeks today. It has 800 miles on it. I averaged 26.3 mpg on the highway Chicago-Detroit going about 75-80 mph. Since getting back to the city, I get about 16-17 mpg with mostly 60% city/40% highway based on time, average speed is 23 mph according the computer. It's about what I expected for the car. So long as I can make it to Chicago on one gas tank, I don't really care about the rest.

Make sure you reset the MPG and the Avg MPH on the next fill up, and tell us what your AMPH is on the tank. AMPH means everything in this equation. I can predict my MPG just by knowing AMPH.
AMPH < 28, MPG ~17
AMPH 28-30, MPG 18-19
AMPH 30-32, MPG 19-20.5
AMPH 32-34, MPG 20-22
I've never gotton less than 17 MPG, even during breakin, and unlessyour AMPH is ridiculously low, I'd say something is amiss.

RE: Gas Milage
I bought mine yesterday and drove it home to CT from NY, about 150 miles. According to my computer I got 27.2 mpg, which was amazing to me especially considering this is a new car / engine. The PT Cruiser GT I sold (turbo 4 cyl) did not do this well. This morning I took a cruise around my home area and the computer read 21.2. I am very happy with this.
