Default Installing new Headunit right now, need help.

Ok first of all I am installing the piooner AVH-P6800DVD double din screen, and I already did the 5v regulator thing, but, I cant get the Headunit to dim when I turn the lights on... is there another wire that I should tap in order to get the hu to dim?

THanx!

OK now I see I have to wire it up directly into a wire in the headlight switch... only how do I remove the headlight switch without damaging it?

Thanx

The switch is held in with a couple clips, you just have to wedge it out of there. I used a screwdriver to get a start and it just popped out.

What Herk said. It just pops out. Then connect your wire to the black/white wire from the headlight switch.

Some systems have a auto-dimming feature so you don't have to tap into the headlight wire.

Is there a wire in the factory harness for this? If it does, which one is it? I would think it would since the Shaker dims when the headlights are on.

From your other post about whats this wire for?, try that harness. it appears to be the light circuit for the A/T shifter.

If this question is directed towards me...I'm not sure. All I know is that on my Pioneer AVIC-D2, there is an "auto illumination" feature. I select that and the system automatically detects when it gets dark outside. That's all I really know...sorry [&:]

It is directed to someone who knows. I know the Shaker is not all that smart to know when it is dark outside so there is a wire in the harness somewhere that controls the brightness of the radio. My question is which wire is it?
