Newbie Question
WELCOME BRO! Yeah I say+1 on the stick. I live in NY and go to the city everyday and still I love love love love the manual. Is it a hassle sometimes... yeah like in all cars, but with the stang, I say get all you can out of this car and go manual!
SPLIT DECISION, of course the stick is more fun because you have more control of your RPMs
And of course they do far better burn-outs,
but at 6" 4" and 245lbs , I dont have much room left for double-clutchin',after the seats pushed back
and the wife said, " Will get a Five-Hundred later, ....much later ",shes 46, Im 45, shes a KEEPER !!!

I'm still leaning towards the stick but I will definately drive both before I make my final decision. I stopped by the local dealership today and saw a Foose model. Pretty cool but IMHO it was overpriced.
I test drove both, the stick felt like it had a little more power, but not a ton. But since 99% of my driving is around town, I went with the Auto...Don't regret it either. But if I were to have a weekend car, I would get a stick.
Welcome to the forums! My preference is a manual but the 5 speed auto that comes in these cars is NOTHING like the old 3 and 4 speed autos of the past and the difference in performance between manual and auto in these cars isn't any where near what it was in other cars. The first 3 gears are very closely spaced which has the obvious benefit of less rpm drop between gears. The stock converter stalls at 2550 which isn't too bad for stock but you will see a huge improvement off the line by going with an aftermarket converter with a higher stall speed. The other benefit to the auto is that since it is completely computer controlled it is a LOT easier to customize the programming than it was with the old hydraulic controlled transmissions. No more dropping the pan, yanking the valve body and messing with separator plates, springs and valves. The other benefit is that with an auto there's no clutch to wear out.
However you just can't beat the fun value of a manual. I LOVE my manual and as good as Ford's 5R55S is I would stay with my manual.
