How'd you pick your car?
I was forced to purchasing a car becuase New York Finest (police) were on a call and they some how crashed into each other and landed on my poor little mazda. After looking for a fox body used mustang for sometime I decided to scratch that idea because every one who had one wanted ransom type of money. So I see this labor day special, zero percent on 06 fords I thought I'll give it a try. Went to several dealers in NY and they were all out of 5speed GT., but I didn't quit. I walk in to a dealer in NJ I ask for a GT they start to explain they are all out, so as I exit a salesperson says wait a minute you might like this one. He leaves and comes back with this fire red Roush Mustang and I was hooked then. Wifey and I sat in it took it for a ride and it was a rap. Zero percent $34K.
We had a meeting the day before I got mine. The owner of the store said Ford just announced 0.0% for 72 months on all '06 models.
Someone asked if it included the Mustang GTs and he said yes. I said nothing.
The next day I hopped on the locator to find a Black on Black 5spd coupe, found several...and NO DEALERS would call me back. After waiting for 45 mins and brooding over it, I walked out to the lot with the keys to my Torch Red and decided to take it.
Still spending on that car...and still smilin'.

I actually had no intentions of buying a S197 for the simple fact that I had just bought a 2001 Mustang GT vert in January this year. I got a real good deal on the 01 but the service at the dealership that I bought it from was absolutly terrible.(Westfield Ford, Countryside Illinois.....Never go there!!!!)In September when the 0% for 72 months was going on one of my friends was joking around with me saying he couldn't believe I was still driving my vert, that got me to thinking so I started looking around online to see what kind of deal I would be looking at, after looking for awhile I said screw it and went to Hawk Ford and started haggling with them. They only had 206 GT's left on the lot, a windveil blue and my tungsten grey. It was a no brainer for me as soon as I saw the tungsten grey up close. After about 2 hours I drove off with her and have been smiling ever since. My only regret is not having enough time to sell my 01 myself, the dealership got almost 18k for it!!! I only paid 12k 9 months before!!!
I wanted one when I saw the first '05 on the lot...but, I already have 3 other cars. So the thought was to get rid of my F250 crew and buy a Stang. I do some traveling for work and this would be better for gas mileage and much easier to manuver. After a year of color/option decisions, Idecided ona silver/charcoal GT 5 speed. After making several trips to my dealer to make sure this is what I wanted to do and keeping my sales guy in suspense...I was driving out of town by another dealership and saw this Grabber from the freeway, I drove it home. To say the least, the wife was very surprised with this choice...and so far I have not sold the crewcab either because I don't want the stang to get dinged up.
My friend up in Portland OR, was asking me if I had seen the new Mustang body style, which I hadn't.
I looked it up online, and fell in love instantly.
Then he got his '05 v6.
While happy for him, I was a bit envious.
Told my wifeI wanted one, and she just laughed. I new we couldn't afford it, so I just kept it as a dream.
About a year later, she took my Tahoe in to Timberland Chevrolet, a dealership she worked at a couple of towns away, for some brake work. The guy who owns this place also has the Ford dealership in that town.
When I got home, she was sitting on the couch, working on a beer.
She said my rig was running poorly.
I told her "Well,I guess we better sell it", and she agreed.
I said "Then I guess I can get a Mustang", and again, she agreed.
OMG, I couldn't believe it!
The next day, she tried to back out, but it was on, lol.
She told me I should test drive one, as she didn't think I could fit (I'm 6'2", almost 300lb).
They didn't have one locally, at her owner's store or the other local Ford dealer (Harper Motors).
The Harper guy said if one comes in that someone ordered, he would call me, so I could sit in it, but not drive it.
That would work for me.
They did have an '04 at her store, so I test drove that.
I have to admit, I was a little cramped, but I told her it was fine, and that I heard the '05+ models were a little roomier.
So, she was trying to get an employeediscount on orderingan '06 GTthrough the sister Ford store.
Meanwhile Harpers called me, saying they had a poweder blue one that came in, and would I like to sit in it?
I was busy at work all week, so I never went in.
I wanted a dark blue or black, btw.
Next week, they leave a message saying that the person who ordered it backed out, and they were putting it up for grabs, and I should come down.
Since my wife was going to get me a good deal on one, and I could order it how I liked, I never went down.
So, my wife is telling her sales manager what she has in mind.
Her sales manager (a real ***), got on the phone to the Ford store, and basically made my wife feel stupid, by saying to the Ford sales manager "Can you believe my employee actually thinks she can get a Mustang, with a discount, and sometime this year?", laughing, with her right there.
She got extremely pissed.
She called me, and said" Harry's being a real jerk. You should go to Harpers, and if you like that car at all, buy it.
I was out the door in minutes!
I get there, and the salesman takes me out to see it.
It was Windveil Blue, and much better looking than I pictured from the "powder blue" description.
Took it for a spin, came back and worked the deal.
I can't imagine being happier in a different car.
So, a year after I fell in love, my baby came home.
I've had her for 14 months now, and she still makes me smile.

I have been looking at these cars on ebay for quite some time. I have always owned mustangs and have three in the past! I had a 69 Mach I and I love the body style. I am a major fan of " Gone in 60 sec" and love the look of hte Eleanor body kits on the old stangs and when I found out that Cervinis came out with one that had a great fit and finish more like it rolled off the factory floor...I had to have one!. I did most of my reasearch online and on top of A plan from my bro I talked the dealer down from 42,000 to 37,000 not including A plan to make the car with the kit. I found my own painter (a friend) and we both worked on the car for three months to paint the kit lower the rear and paint the stripes. Started talking with the dealership in March of 06 and took final delivery in June of o6. The car was built in Flatrock,MI and the motor came from the plant in Romeo, MI (where my Bro works). He looked up a few numbers from the engine and checked to see if it went thru quality at all....and it didn't so I was very pleased. I love this car more each day and it is well cared for and driven only on nice days and stored for about 5 months for the winter to pass. I plan on using for show and hope to win many trophies! Take care and have a great Christmas!
I actually went in to get a replacement for my wife's Focus. She was ready for a new car, and I was happy with my Explorer. But when I got to the dealership, he had two Mustang convertibles sitting out front, a red GT and the black Pony edition. I ended up taking them both for a test drive and decided I liked the looks of my Pony edition best and the acceleration and handling suited my needs. So, walked out with the Mustang and left my Explorer after rationalizing that I really didn't need the big vehicle any more and the V8 and gas mileage, and also made a deal for a new Focus for my wife. (The salesman said it was a good weekend for him because he knew I was coming for the Focus, but hadn't expected me to decide to go with a new Mustang for myself)
I've owned and used as daily driver 3 vettes and last sports car was an 02 Viper GTS (red with white stripes). The Viper was fantastic but previous owner had lowered it some and done some other stuffand as a daily driver it played hell on my 55 year old back. It was too loud also but an awesome performer...a real torque monster. However, it almost did my back in...so after about 10 months, I had to look for another sports car.
I reluctantly went to a local Ford dealer and sat for the first timeever in a mustang. It was really comfortable. I mean it was like sitting in a limousine compared to the snake and even the vettes. I drove the GT. I was disappointed in the performance but I thought...I can have the best of both worlds...a really comfortable, attractivecar and I'll make it faster than the Viper. So I bought a plain Jane GT with cloth seats, basically the cheapest manual GT I could find and with the assistance of the Ford guys, I am progessing toward my goal of making my sports limousine a 10 second 1/4 miler. I am really pleased with the mustang so far and myback feels so much better. I'm in the high 11s already so it's already competitive with the exotics.
Had my first oil change a couple of weeks ago... $29 compared to the $116 for the Viper...A couple of pics to show the before and after. You can see the license plate is the same. All in all, I am very satisfied being a mustang owner.

in march of 06 There was an 05 NEW on ebay from a dealer in mass (i live on li, ny) they had it listed at 17800 with no reserve. no one bid and it was on for 3 listings. my dad secretly emailed the guy after the ending of the auction and asked okay 17 with 0 for 36? He emailed back that yes that can happen. My dad then the day or 2 later asked me...so do you want that mustang from ebay. (im 16)...after a pause and a gasp I was like are you serious. Then it was umm yeh!!We had to get it 2 days later otherwise the 0 financing wouldnt happen. So we had to take our friends trailer to pick up the car. We got there and i saw it waiting out front, i was so happy. We signed the papers, loaded it on the trailer and drove home. you dont know how many times i turned around and looked out the back window. (reason for trailering was that massachusetts doesnt give out temp plates, so we had to drive back to ny to register it). Probably the best day of my life. I will always remember that day and you couldnt wipe the smile off my face.
My last car was/is a '78 BMW 320i, modified a lot, but, still a four banger. Was my pride and joy for many, many years. But, the last few years been thinking of something new. Wanted something that had the feel of the BMW, but more power. I had been "eyeballing" used Mustangs for several months, saw some I liked some I didn't. I still can't tell one year from another. But I'd watch for the "Cobra" or the "SVT" on them.
I had to consider the fact that my garage has two spots, but, the "longer" section is owned by our PU. The car's side is shorter due to a washer and a dryer. I had to check the size of the vehicle for length and width also. Little tight with a Yamaha Sport/Touring Cycle in the middle.
Finally in November '04 my old BMW just barely squeaked by the freaking California SMOG test. (In fact right now the BMW is not passed this year. [:@]) Started seeing articles about the GT. Bought them. Read them. The only GTthat "spoke" to me was Screaming Yellow. Didn't tell the wife. Just kept pointing out cars with Yellow to gauge how she would like it. As luck would have it, she had to leave town for a family emergency, I went down to Ford and ordered a ScreamingYellow GT5 speed the dayafter Thanksgiving of '04.
Never told the wife. I have had cycles. Test rides on Cycles are not handed out freely. My Yamaha FJR1300ABS was ordered months ahead of time, I didn't sit on it till I turned it on to drive it home. So, I read about the GT liked it, ordered it. On February 18th '05 I went down to the dealer, to do the paperwork, and I told the salesman you know, maybe I ought to sit in one before I pay for it. That was the first day I sat in one. When I started up my GT, it was the first time I had one running, when I left the dealer, it was the first time I drove one.
It came to pass that I drove up to the house and my wife was just getting home. I drove up and she turned around and saw the Screaming Yellow GT with me in it. Asked me if I was test driving it. I said, it ours. She was very happy.
16,600 miles, 1 year 9 months later, I still LOVE the car. I love the way it sounds, love the way it feels, I put the Granatelli in and that made it better yet. I'm pretty happy with the way it handles, if I had the money I think I'd put in the Ford Suspension complete setup. But sometimes life is not good. But I'm here to tell you, the GT feels real good in the Santa Cruz Mountains and the Sierra.
The BMW was very "flick-able" handled like it was on rails, a thousand pounds lighter it was "tossable" but, sometimes roads returned a very aggressive ride, I kind of like the difference in the GT. Not to mention low and stiff gets to be a headache on streets quite often.
The GT is 10 inches longer and 10 inches wider than the BMW. Makes a difference in the garage. Can only open the dryer door partially, and I always make sure I watch the garage door shut when I park the GT. The Cycle must be moved from side to side depending on if the PU or the GT is entering or exiting the garage. Thankfully I found a cool little platform to set the center stand in and I can move the bike around in a vertical position, cause, not much room between the vehicles!
