These guys are talking about putting locktite on the bolts that go through the stick...bottom of stick is black, top part of stick is chrome. The instructions only tell you to put loctite on the one bolt down on the shifter rail, but you need locktite on the handle bolts as well. I installed mine at first without loctite and the handle bolts came loose twice before I applied loctite AND torqued down some nuts on the ends of the bolts.

Absolutely no problems since.
none of mine have worked loose yet, and im hoping they will not......Love the shifter so far after a month!!

I thought about the Hurst, but knowing how good the MGW shifter was on the pre 2005 'Stangs, I want to see the new shifter from MGW for the S197 'Stangs. They're talking about a late Feb. release.

No, I went ahead and used the red. The blue is only half (medium) strength. You can probably use either one though.

I have the shifter sitting in my office waiting to be installed, I would like to know if these shifters are smoother from second to third? Sometimes I miss third with the stock shifter.

I've had the shifter for a year now and all I can say is...Best bang for the buck as far as mods go! And take my word for it, you will have to apply yourself to miss third with that shifter.

The shifter has a shorter and notchy feel, but the shifter alone won't prevent you from missing third. What will help prevent you from missing third gear is either some torque limiters or stiffer motor mounts. Since the 05+ GTs have a remote mount shifter, it flexes from the torque of the motor/trans.

+1......I missed 3rd a couple times right after I installed it....I really got on her the other night and hit 3rd perfectly....IMO its hit or miss (no pun intended) without the K-member and Torque limiter....I plan on adding those as the funds allow! I absolutely love the notchy short throws!

Heres a BAD picture of mine installed

I have the motor mounts and they will be installed the same day as the shifter plus other mods
