HELP!?! Mouse Control
Like Sprzout said a good terrier, either a rat terrier or Jack Russell are great "mousers".....if buying a dog is too impractical.....you could always use hand grenades!
Seriously, go with Fairlane! Good advice! Man, really knows his "mouses".
Good luck,
Joel

READ THIS CAREFULLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my bro is an EXTERMINATOR. This will work. First, as mentioned, do NOT use poison. They crawl into unreachable places and smell bad. Use peanut butter - not cheese. Here's the trick tho -
go and get plain old fine grade steel wool at wal-mart or whatever. you will find it in the paint dept. take a small piece and shred it up. wrap the peanut butter covvered pad in the steel wool and "smoosh" it into the peanut butter. Here's what happens -
rats/mice instinctively will chew thru anything to get to food. They get their teeth caught in the steel wool and BANG - dead lol. I had big mice issues. They would eat the peanut butter and leave an unsprung trap to mock me. once i tried this trick I had dead mice everywhere lol.
THIS IS THE BEST WAY BY FAR

RodeoFlyer,
That is an excellent idea with the steel wool. I have a mouse problem in my garage. Have had nests, in my Honda, and my F150. I have been putting traps out with peanut butter. I end up with unsprung traps with no peanut butter on them.
Thanks for the idea.

Those are some really good idea I like the steel wool addition those dang things are way to smart for my own good.
I wonder do the mice only climb up the tires ? my car sits lower then stock and I can't say I know if the little buggers jump very high someone enlighten me on this if they could please.

I've heard of the steel wool but I don't want a mouse to die unless I have a body to recover. (lol) My car is garaged and it still smells new, don't want a dead mouse unless I can quickly discard it. The wooden snap traps work well when new (with peanut butter); after a year though get new ones, they are cheap.Theydon't work anywhere near as well after the first year it seams.
I'm thinking if you have less than 3" clearance somewhere it's possible their route into your car may be other than the simple scoot up the tire.

Cool I don't think they will get up inless it's on the tire, Did you get what he was saying about the steel wool it's not to kill the mouse it's to use on the trap with the peanut butter so they have to work at it alittle harder and in doing so are more prone to setting it off rather then licking it up and walking away .
ok, cool, I had heard of this once as a digestive killer (you know how mice will eat wire insulation and I've seen frayed wireas well, almost like they will eat that too). But yeah in the peanut butter in the trap seems fine, although with new traps I don't get empties with peanut butter. ..guess I missed what he was saying.. I think what threw me was the words "once i tried this trick I had dead mice everywhere"
Thanks for the clarification. If I start to see empty traps (no PB left) I'll try this trick.

yes you wrap the shredded steel wool around the peanut butter/plate. that way they have to get past the steel wool to get at the peanut butter. also place the traps perpendicular to walls, with the bait pointing at the wall. they run along walls, so sometimes you get them while they're runnin lol.
