Default Tire Sizes

I don't know much about tires soo;

Will 255/40/17's or 255/45/17's fit on my car? The size of my rims are, 235/55/17, and I remember someone telling me that you can put a bigger/taller tire on without much problem.

yes, 255/45 will fit WITHOUT altering your speedometer accuracy. Anything else and you'll neeed a tuner to adjust your speedo.

255/45 will affect your speedo because it is a smaller tire.

255/50/17 is a exact fit replacement for your 17" stock wheel

255/45/18 will be a direct fit replacement for a stock 18" wheel

OOPS, that's right, sorry, I thought you were going with 18's. It's hard to find tires in 255/50-17's. For the difference in price it's sometimes better to just to 255/45-18's on new rims.Ifyou like the bullittsI bet you can find some 18" bullitt takeoffs for cheap.

Wait, 255/50/17 is the stock 5 spoke wheels? The tires on my car say otherwise, I think...

I can't get the Nittos $1000 for the tires + install is too much for me.

235/55/17 is the stock tire for your 17 inch rim.

you asked about a 255 size tire and a 255/50/17 will fit fine on your stock 17x8 rim and have the same diameter so you won't need to correct the speedo.
