Default Does 300whp sound right?

Ok, so on my way home today I ran into a 05+ GT on the road and stopped him to ask what exhaust he was running (since I'm in the market for one). He told me he had Hooker long tubes, no cats, Hooker x-pipe and the Borla/FRPP axle back. He also said he had an intake (not specific) and UDPs. I asked what he was using to tune with and he said some guy from a local shop was dyno tuning it himself and was NOT using a Predator or XCal. With all that he put down 300rwhp. Now to me, that doesn't sound right based on what I've read. He should be more around 315-320, correct? Is he maybe getting a bad tune or something?

Maybe it was an automatic? Don't they make less power than the 5 speeds?

The dyno was probably under rated... I know 2 guy that were dyno'd by 2 different places. One was 306 and the other was 325. They raced and the one with 306 won by a car length. Dyno's are all different.

I'll try to find out what kind of dyno it was but I know for sure it was a manual tranny as I heard him shifting.

That seems a little low, even if it was an auto.

yea, seems a little low, myabe the shop isn't the best tuner, or he could of been on a DynoJet, which puts around 20 RWHP less down...

The fact that he says he tuned w/ no tuner. Could be hurting him

I have every bolt-on available on the market, and a killer dyno tune (picked up 40rwhp/41rwtq with just the tune), and only have 306/321 at the wheels. I can also dust a C5 vette while on 20in wheels. Don't live by dyno numbers alone.

...actually, he had 316rwhp/321rwtq, andthe one guyran dead even with him up to 100mph from a dig with "265rwhp/279rwtq", at least that's whathe put down a week later on the tunehe had going into the dyno tune. [8D]

1+ a dyno and its numbers are for reference and not real world application. So many other variances that play into actually driving and using the car! With the exception of A/F ratio which is an important number throughout the powerband

He might have been talking about power to the wheel.
