Rear Decklid Blackout on Mineral Gray?

RE: Rear Decklid Blackout on Mineral Gray?
I'd get the magnetic one to start with, then you can see if you even like it...
Otherwise I like the honeycomb but as already mentioned, my grill drives me nuts when washing, (so I use my air-compressor and blow it dry)...keeping it clean would be my only concern

I agree that the 3M tape may be a pain...especially if you want to remove the panel for who knows what......Here is what I did to get around that issue. Keep in mind that my panel is fairly thin, probably an eighth of an inch or so thick. I don't know if this would work on a heavier panel such as the honeycomb panel.....
My panel came with 3M tape on the edges for installation. I went down to Lowes, and bought a roll of the flexible magnet tape that is readily available. I installed the magnet tape on top of the 3M tape. While this did make my panel "magnetic", I was not completely secure about the panel staying put. So I also added 4 strips of velcro to the back of my panel. Here is a photo of the back of the panel with the magnetic tape and velcro installed;
Now, on the underside of the trunk lid, I installed the opposite side of the velcro tape, to attach the four velcro straps to. Here is a photo of that;
This pic above is with the panel in place. You can see the magnetic tape around the perimeter of the panel, and the velcro on the underside of the trunk lid. None of this is visable with the trunk closed. This way, I can remove the panel any time I want for cleaning, change of appearance, or whatever. Works great for me.....

Looks clean! I'm definitely nervous about easily it gets dirty and how hard it is to clean though. Thanks for sharing
