Default RE: my valve covers

I painted mine last weekend, I wanted to powdercoat them but I would have had to drive 90 miles each way, twice, to drop them off and then pick them up and they wanted $120 to do it. The engine paint was $4. If it doesn't hold up I'll bite the bullet but I was impressed with the results. You have to be careful not to scratch them when you put them back it so I covered them with duct tape till I got them secured.....

man, those look awesome on the car. I can't wait to put mine on. Thanks for the heads up using the duck tape. I read where someone else had used a rag to cover it up as they placed them back on.

nice job

I'd be afraid duct tape would pull some paint off when removing it. I suggest going with blue painters tape... not so sticky. JMO

Looks great by the way. Another project for summer.

That is a good point but there is a trick I used that I should have mentioned. If you sprinkle some baby powder or even a little flower on the back of the tape, It will stick just enough to stay put till you get them in place. Painters tape is great stuff though, I didn't have any around.

I'm doing mine black, when I get my car back in a month... I am also waiting to do my brake calipers.

How long have you other guys been waiting before putting the covers back on? Also how many coats did you go with tickletmonster?
