Default StripeLess

I am currently looking at a 2005 GT Vert and love the car and color combo except for the cheesy looking vinyl stripes that are on the car. They are collecting wax buildup around the edges, they have a couple rock chips in the material and they just look cheap overall. Is there a way to take these stripes off of the car without damaging the finish of the car. Once the stripes are removed will there be any noticeable fading or color differences around where the stripes were? Has anyone removed stripes with success? My biggest concern is that once the stripes are removed you will be able to tell where they were. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

The darker the color the more chance of fade however unless the car has sat in nearly constant sun and never waxed (you say there's wax buildup) you shouldn'rt have a problem. You may see a difference in that the clearcoat has a protected area and a not so protected area. One professional detailing would be worth the $75 or so. ...you don't need to pay to have int or engine bay done.

Easiest to remove on a warm day or in a heated garage; use a hair dryer (no heat gun); pull back gradually but firmly against where the stripes are, not upward. ...pretty easy, take your time.

Took all my stripes off in 10 minutes including the side stripes. I had mine on for seven months on my black car and there is no paint fade or dull spots.

I also keep my car waxed though, at least once a week with meguiars gold class.

This is a good question ive been meaning to ask, we have the white side stripes and the car does site in the sun its florida, and we dont wax, have put on ICE once do you think if we took off the stripe you will see the paint difference? Also could you just take it to a good body shop and get them to make it blend with a buffer or something?

There will be no issue with side stripes. Sun, fading not an issue there.

Not on a 2005 car in Jan 2007. ...maybe in 20 years.
